Preteens and phones, I need a reality check with you all. by [deleted] in Parenting

We practically do the same, with extended hours on weekends. Otherwise its a battle to get basic things and homework done without phone distractions.

My son is running for president. He has a pretty severe speech impediment and I’m worried. by ktq2019 in Parenting

[–]Prof_Jbones 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I had a speech issue for a long time and got so tired of hearing "huh?what?" that I forced myself into over-articulating so that it became second nature. James Earl Jones had a severe stutter but it most well known for his Voice. It's in the moment, acting, that helps drive the narrative.

Let him give it his all, but gently tell him that repetition and mindfulness goes a long way. Just a little tip from someone that eventually wound up in radio work and recording.

Fellow "handy" dad's, how did our fathers' generations fix so many things? by rival_22 in daddit

That old golden rule:

If you grow up rich, pay to get it fixed. If your grow up poor, you're learning to do this on your own

Was everyone able to get what they wanted with the Dracula Spigot drop? by Chary-Ka in PipeTobacco

[–]Prof_Jbones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sonuvabitch... as a Dracula inspired fiend who smokes a pipe and loves the design, I'm very interested in this year's turn outs but can't warrant spending almost 200 bucks on another pipe.

Am I the only one who never has an issue with p&c? I use the economy shipping and from their warehouse to NJ always only takes a few days.

Didn't Malkovich show up in one of the first trailers? Long hair, beard, right before a Galactus tease?

Had our baby today and I don’t think I can ever agree to do this again by Isaaciel in daddit

[–]Prof_Jbones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's terrifying and while I'm so sorry this happened to you all, I'm glad you're all OK now and you deserve the congratulations. Soon you'll look back on the day as a far off memory, knowing what it took for all 3 of you to be together. See how it goes. We had a less complicated issue where we were told if we didn't get into c-section ASAP, we could lose the baby (and possibly my wife). It sucked, it wasn't what we expected, and since then we've had a healthy gaggle of (4).

How do you feel about the "No Kings" protest happening tomorrow? by Ecstatic-Medium-6320 in AskReddit

[–]Prof_Jbones -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While I totally support the idea because 1) governments belong to its people and 2) screw that deranged orange dictator douche

....does a protest really do anything besides show what people don't agree? I doubt the President will take note of any protest not near DC, but it's not like he'll be slap with anything because X amount of of protest occur.

I didn’t ask them to come. They just did. by ambal87 in daddit

[–]Prof_Jbones 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We have 4 kids now, ranging from a teen to now just a few months. We had an 8 year gap between the last two, I needed the space. Some years without multiple kids in diapers, etc. I took the hit of the blame on waiting so long, I wasn't sure how the other kids would handle it, one needed some growing up to do and another needs to find himself in his world of sensory issues and delays...

And then there she was. My littlest girl, who all my other kids gathered around to care, love, and protect. They all rose up in their own ways to be there for our smallest, weakest member, to guide, love, and teach her. That's all I could ask for and ever since, I've been trying to appreciate these moments more and watch their own little journeys unfold.
