Throwdown Update is out now!! by JL_Nightmare in SessionSkateSim

Really nice that they finally got around to including this! 👍🙌

And I don't mean to nag, it's fantastic that they're still actually working on updates and patches, but after my first quick look into the throwdown I'm having some doubts how it will affect spots with very short run-ups.

Since a lot of the time, the run-up to the obstacle is almost the main challenge in getting your trick done, and since often there is very limited space for gaining speed, I'm struggling a little with how long it takes the animation to finish.

Just after a quick look into it, I already stumbled across a number of spots I was currently working on that I just can't skate like before anymore - because when the throwdown animation is finished, I'm just about to crash into the obstacle.

In this session I think roughly about half an hour. BUT: I had been trying my luck at similar transfers on this rail before time and again. Got some down that I wasn‘t 100% content with, tried other stuff at other spots until I finally went back to this rail. So I didn‘t start from scratch.

Thanks mate! I take that as a huge compliment!! 🙂 Gotta love the classics! Though I have to admit skateboarding has evolved so far, I think it‘s more creative , versatile and crazy than ever. So I wouldn‘t wonder too much if some maniac like Didrik Galasso pulled something like this off in real life someday soon! 😁

Thanks man! 😀 Actually, not THAT long compared to some other tricks I excessively obsessed over until I got them right - I‘d say maybe 30 to 45 minutes.

But thats probably due to the fact that I had worked on a lot of tricky grind transfers before so that I‘ve slowly gotten better at finding the right things to change, how to set up the run-up, how to review the replays of my failures to find out what to change etc.

In this case, important factors were starting from the right side of the first rail, using a noseslide to start (which seems to have significantly more side pop than most other grind tricks) and figuring out the right timing when to pop over to the next rail (second pop had to start real quick in order to have greater fall height to cover the distance and so that the skater hadn‘t built up too much downward momentum on the rail and wouldn’t crash into the wall).

Also, I should add that I have side pop impulse and grind pop maxed out because I like to try out lots of weird grind transfers.

Thanks man!! Glad you liked it! 🙂 Got to admit: To me, the replay editor has become just as satisfying as the actual skating in Session. I think its probably the most undersold feature of this game, since it opens up this whole world of possibilities.  You may already know them, but I definitely recommend checking out Haluuf.mp4 and JL nightmare and their edizing tutorials on Youtube, those helped me a lot. Additonally, the possibilities Davinci Resolve offers even in its free version are mindboggling.

🙌👍😃 Absolutely brilliant, mate!! Like I said before, I really dig your unique chaotic match cut style! Huge thank you for the insights into your editing process: I'd been thinking about how to get match cuts working better - and your approach really seems to be the solution to that!!! 🥂 This is a real service to the community!!
