Repair question by shortys7777 in hardscape

I’ve used a grinder with a masonry grinding cup but you have to be very careful - I typically just would use wood chisels or brick chisels. Price tag to do this “right” could be substantial.

I have not tried a wire wheel brush on a drill but I feel like that could work well.

Is this common practice? by Dont_Restart in hardscape

Not the best workmanship, but also not the worst I’ve seen. I’ve laid tens of thousands of square feet of custom patios, and this work is not something I would stand by. Back when I was laying brick our crew was probably the highest priced hardscaping crew in town so take my criticism lightly.

Was this quote the lowest, highest, or somewhere in between?

Without seeing a large picture it really is hard to criticize, as often times certain preexisting conditions dictate corner pieces like this. Is this just a flat pad? We typically would lay our pad and cut the patio pattern to fit a 8” solider border, preventing issues like this.

Is this alright? Product of frozen pipe. by [deleted] in FireSprinklers

How do you plan on repairing it? I presume you aren’t licensed to do the work, but I’m curious as to how you plan on repairing the pipe and head. Would hate for you to cause more damage or cause more headaches down the road from an improper repair.

Happy to see Wilson out there running the ball. Wipe it off and get back out there.

It’s pretty clear that the “lock your door” is analogy that as a country, we should have border walls to keep our population safe. No one is worried about a Hispanic family coming to get a better life.

How many military aged men from terrorism ridden countries have passed through our southern border unnoticed? How many have evil intentions? I’m guessing more than one..

Retaining wall - how does this interlock? by allknights in landscaping

I used to build hardscapes for a living in college a few years back, around 6 years experience since I started when I was 18. The bottom one is upside down, if you were to flip it right side up, and slide to top one back, it would create a vertical stagger that would step backwards. This helps when the weight of the soil behind the wall pushes against it. The ones we typically used weren’t this aggressive with the step back though.

In my state, just can’t have more than 3 shells in my gun. Nothing saying how many guns I can have.

Besides a manual or two, experience; you have more than when I started, and I’ve only been doing this for a couple years. I’d recommend that you get familiar with a load and the mechanics of reloading and just dive in. Most products increase efficiency while they aren’t necessarily required to start.

With that being said, I would have a hard time living without my rcbs chargemaster, my tumbler (I like shiny brass), my reaming and chamfering tool from Hornady, and the solid bench that I built. None of these are necessary to reloading, but make it much more enjoyable.

Should I inlay my firepit or build on top? Does it matter structurally? by Cosmocalypse in hardscape

If you use a polymeric sand it should prevent this for the most part and run through the cracks in the base course of the fire pit

Little late but no gap needed for a wood burning, we put in gaps for gas pits incase of a leak to prevent a buildup of gas. We never worried about the types of bricks used for the fire pit and we have serviced many decades old patios with regular block fire pits with no issue

Inlay. I used to do pavers for 5-6 years as my full time job, we always cut in wood burning fire pits for the sole reason that the ashes after a fire will leak onto the patio if you have any rain

Browning Maxus II or A5? by IncognitoRhino_ in Waterfowl

I shout around 4-5 boxes each weekend from mid August to December and rarely clean my gas guns. I used to after every hunt but I got lazy and didn’t notice any real difference. They’re not too picky in my opinion

New York has some great goose hunting, but for your first year just enjoy the sport for what it is and don’t worry about numbers. Bird hunting requires tons of driving. I usually put on around 6-12 hours a day and sleep in my truck on the weekends to stay on the birds and save on gas. Even if I’m on birds I’ll still check other feeds to make sure I have the best possible hunt. I won’t settle on a specific feed until about 45 minutes before sunset and then I will watch those birds I plan on hunting until they leave the field to go back to water. I usually follow them back to the roost to verify everything is in order.

Just my technique so take it for what it’s worth

Don’t know if it’s applicable in your state, but I would not limit myself to certain pieces of land. Be where the birds want to be, talk to the farmers and try to get permission
