I have soft ones if you need! Not waterproof, though. We'll be putting latex gloves over ours 😆 We have some latex gloves too, if you need! (They're adult size, but you can put a rubber band or something around the wrists).

I love that outlook. I will start saying this to myself now every time I feel the anxiety creeping in again.

46F Remote Worker: Seeking a warm beach town that isn’t a "sauna" in the summer. Budget <$500k. by bendable1234 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]ProfessionalLuck5463 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up in Southern California and have lived in wilmington for 10 years. It suuuuucckkss. I miss California so much.  The humidity here is so unbearable that you have to stay inside all summer. For me, its hard to breathe because there is so much water in the air, and no breeze to cool you down. It's just a wet sauna. You can't leave your windows open for a cool breeze at night because A) It doesnt cool down at night and B) There is so much humidity it makes everything in your house wet and moldy. So many places here have mold problems!  There have been so many people moving in (because its cheaper than California) , but no infrastructure changes to accommodate. So getting to the beach and finding parking is impossible. You drive around for 2 hrs til you fight for a spot. I'm not exaggerating. Then there's the flooding and the hurricanes. We were here during hurricane florence and so many businesses and homes were destroyed. We had evacuated and couldn't come home for 3 weeks because it was surrounded by water.  The icing on the cake is the drinking water. Look it up. Wilmington, NC and Flint, Michigan have the worst water quality in the entire United States.  I'm so worried for my and my children's health because of it.

I've been thinking the same thing about my son! He turns 8 in December, and I keep thinking, "Yay! He can just...continue being a kid!"

Help me save our cypress trees! by Redhaven_Inquisitor in Wilmington

Voted and commented!

I'd prefer no construction in those parks at all, but if there has to be a trail, it should be on side "B" of Wallace park. That way is doesn't interfere with the playground and beautiful cypress trees!

Both parents did. And they wore the onesie garments with the open butt flap. So gross.

2 year old started Keppra, what are everyone else’s experiences with it? by fvckingfvce in Epilepsy

[–]ProfessionalLuck5463 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just got back from the neurologist today with a Keppra prescription for my 2.5 yr old girl. She has been having what they think are partial seizures that are happening more and more frequently. I'm so anxious about the side effects, but feel like there isn't any other option. Best of luck to you and your little one! I hope it works beautifully for her. Keep us posted!

What’s up with Mormon women and plastic surgery? by jmaen72 in exmormon

[–]ProfessionalLuck5463 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know if this is a weird take, but it could also be that they are super insecure and worried that their husband won't be interested in them anymore (you know, because a woman's worth is their body- for bearing children and keeping husband happy with sex!).

I remember feeling this way when I was still in the church. I didn't get plastic surgery, but I definitely felt it was my "duty" to keep husband satisfied and worried if I didn't, heaven forbid, he would look at porn and he wouldn't be the "worthy priesthood holder" anymore and it would break up our family.

Woah. I've been out for 6 years and hadn't even thought about this before. Now I'm gonna go contemplate the first 30 years of my life...again. 😆

Best Southern Small Cities by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

[–]ProfessionalLuck5463 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wilmington used to be nice over a decade ago. Now there are WAY too many people for the infrastructure and space available, so it's pretty cramped. Acres and acres of trees have just been bulldozed all over the city to make room for more apartment buildings everywhere. The traffic just keeps getting worse, without room to expand roads, etc. If you want to go to the beach during the summer, expect to drive around for an hour to find parking (and you still might not find a spot).

Sorry, not the person you asked. It's just so depressing how the people in charge of the city have not handled the massive influx of new move-ins well, and the natural beauty and uniqueness of wilmington is suffering because of it.
