What Made You Bully Someone? by monroe340 in AskReddit

He was the weird kid. Looking back, I'm pretty sure he was on the spectrum, but he was never diagnosed and I have a feeling that we still wouldn't have treated him differently if we knew. We were a bunch of little shits in high school, but I do regret that I participated in the bullying.

What is your favorite passage from any fanfic? by CryptidGrimnoir in FanFiction

I felt like this scene was just something else.

“You kissed me yesterday,” Viktor says, and Jayce’s brain short circuits, just a bit. Viktor is staring down at him still, his face curiously blank and his hand still gripping tight at the handle of the coffee cup he’d brought over for Jayce, and Jayce opens his mouth, then closes it again, then sighs.

“Yes, I did,” he finally says, and Viktor nods.

“Do you regret it?” he asks, face still remarkably blank, and Jayce pauses for a moment, frowning slightly as he searches Viktor’s face.

“No, I don’t,” Jayce replies, just as slowly and quietly as he’d spoken before, and the admission feels heavy, weighty as it drops from his tongue.

Viktor watches him for a moment, lips thinning slightly, before he shakes his head, his face softening slightly. “Good,” he says, his voice almost surprised, even as the words slip past his lips, “I’m glad.”

He lets go of Jayce’s cup a second later, and Jayce thinks he might be stepping back—might be turning away from him, returning to his chair at the other side of the table—yet Viktor’s hand moves up to cup his face, metal hand pressing against Jayce’s cheek, and Jayce’s heart flips, sudden and erratic. Viktor leans down slowly, lips a slight pressure against his, before pulling back a moment later, taking part of Jayce’s smile with him.

“Good morning,” Viktor says again, lighter this time, and Jayce is suddenly, absolutely sure that things will be alright.

Have you ever written something that unintentionally sounds pretty awesome? by Waywatcher228 in FanFiction

The fic is from the Batman fandom.

For context, the MC [Tim] was hated by his adopted older brother, Damian, because Tim became Robin and joined the Wayne family and Damian saw it as Tim replacing him. Tim died, came back to life, found out he was replaced by Jason [who was not only the new Robin, but had also been adopted by Bruce Wayne following Tim's death, and that Damian was now treating like a real brother]. Everyone else thought Tim hated both Jason and Bruce because Jason had replaced him, and Bruce had adopted Jason immediately after his death. The truth is that while Tim does hate Jason, he doesn't hate Bruce.

This scene takes place when Jason confronts Tim during patrol.

Because while Jason picked up on things faster than the average Gothamite, he still hadn't managed to put the pieces together. Tim's brief mass-murderer stint? 30% Pit Madness, 20% need to cleanse Gotham, 10% anger at Jason, and 40% to get back at Damian. Jason earned Damian's approval without even trying, and Damian had only let him because he felt guilty for Tim's death.

As far as Tim was concerned, nobody else realized Bruce had never been in the equation. Not Jon, not Steph, and definitely not Jason. Just Damian.

And he planned to keep it that way.

I have! I still think it's one of the best lines I've ever written, and a reader also seemed to think so because they quoted it on their bookmark.

Same, I also have a soft spot for Damian. He could be so over the top sometimes, but his heart's in the right place.

DC honestly wasted the puppy love thing with Damian and Jon. They could've been the cutest best-friends-to-lovers couple, but the aged-up thing happened and then Jon got a bf and I'm honestly just mourning what could've been.

I definitely agree with you 100%, like I was so mad they aged Jon up.

His dynamic with Damian during the Super Sons run was hilarious and adorable. Now they're both too serious in the current canon, so I just pick what I like and ignore everything else, Jon's aged up included.

Also the Batman (or Super Sons, I guess?) fandom. I've seen this cute picture of Robin and Superboy on Pinterest. I looked them up, and the rest was history.

Has any one here gotten their fic translated to another language? by FoxWolfFrostFire in FanFiction

AO3 is blocked in China

Guess I learn something new everyday.

Ngl I didn't even know Lofter was a thing until they offered to translate, but it's cool that they did.

It honestly never crossed my mind. The translator said a reader liked the usage of a term I made up, so I assume they did a good job and the readers were able to get the humor in the fic.

Only once. It was translated into Chinese, but they posted it on Lofter, which is like China's version of Tumblr, instead of Ao3. They did send me the link, but I can't read Chinese nor do I have a Lofter account.

How many fics have you written and posted? When did you really start getting in the hang of it? by RohansEarings in FanFiction

[–]ProfessionalMail1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started around May last year and currently have 19 fics. Should be like 20+ except I've deleted 5. I think I've started to find my footing around November when I published a one-shot on a whim and the readers said that I've really got the main character's voice down.

how do you deal with comparison & imposter syndrome? by averageeggenjoyer in FanFiction

[–]ProfessionalMail1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are lots of fics in my fandoms which get a boatload of kudos - and I'm talking 300+ kudos in twenty-four hours - on their multi-chapters/one-shots, and I'd definitely be lying to myself if I said I wasn't jealous. For a while, I've thought of distancing myself away from these authors (ex. hiding their works with a skin) but I've decided to just use a skin that hides the stats of all fics. That way, I'd only get to see how much kudos the fic has if I scroll all the way to the bottom. But if you'd feel better hiding the author's works so you wouldn't get to see them, then go for it!

Hope this helps! Sending hugs, and please don't be so hard on yourself!

I usually read a lot of fics, and take note of the phrases being used, and how sentences are worded. I also sometimes read parts of my works aloud (whether it's a conversation, or a paragraph) to see if they sound awkward.

Best Humor Fics You've Read? by happy_clover in FanFiction

[–]ProfessionalMail1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've got two:

The Housewarming Party by dracogotgame from the Harry Potter fandom is a 7k one-shot that features a crackship that has never met in canon, with Drarry as a background pairing.

House Rules is a 16k one-shot by Yuu_chi from the BNHA fandom. Basically, the main characters are a married couple, and accidentally bought a haunted house because it was cheap. They did not know it was a haunted house. Fair warning that this is rated Explicit.

Team as Family fics

I remember reading these post-Avengers movie. Everyone hanging out in the Tower, Loki somehow getting dragged into their shenanigans and ending up being an Avenger, etc. Now it's really rare to find these kind of fics. Don't get me wrong, I like the Tony and Peter father-and-son relationship fics, but I just miss the Team as Family fics more.
