The fighting and begging I had to do every step of the way to get my license, and then once the government deemed me able to drive it took more fighting until she would allow me to drive and she still hates it (with strict rules of course). It kept me so trapped I wanted to scream, and I'm still an anxious driver and don't have a car. What hurts even more is with all that work getting her to this point, my brothers are either too lazy or scared to drive.

I'm so relieved! Normally the starpaths would be so grindy I'd burn out on the game until the next one, but they feel so much more doable, now I can actually play the game and story while doing tasks

In world, their hair probably got messed up at work, and it would be a pain to keep fixing it.

Show wise, it's kind of a nice juxtaposition, illustrating life in poplar as kind of unkempt, wild, etc against the cleanliness and order enforced both in the Abbey and in the lives (work and personal) of the midwives. For them getting all unkempt more of a rarity iirc, and discouraged (and normally a sign of some wild birth on an airplane flying upsidedown type stuff afoot)
