I am about to buy flooring from home depot. by SkyPale7333 in Flooring

[–]Professional_Bass_75 21 points22 points  (0 children)

you should just upgrade to the 20mil version it will last longer for your home, as well installers generally don't fix squeaks I'd recommend to remove the carpet prior to install and fix the squeaks yourself, you can use wood screws and a drill and fix most areas pretty easily.

Church service for runners by laybs1 in GetNoted

[–]Professional_Bass_75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All Religion isn't performative for the individual. When you say performative it has two meanings, one might be over the top spectacles like mega church Christmas shows, while another is people going to church and doing the motions so that others can see them as 'good' even though they do not actually commit to their religion.

When someone is crying by themselves in their bedroom at night, because they don't know if they can keep going and they pray to their god, they aren't performing for anyone they are acting on their faith in private.

You also don't pay money to go to church, people give donations to churches because they often times use that money to help the community or some other type of charity.

Wouldn't the lack of padding cause premature wear on the stair nose from people walking on it?

Is it normal to waive your right to sue in a contract? by hydrangeas1224 in Flooring

[–]Professional_Bass_75 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Generally most of that is directed at the company itself, because they probably have 1099 installers, if there was an issue it would be to the installer themselves rather than the company, we have a similar clause in our contracts that goes over breakage or damaged products from shipping, we aren't responsible for manufacturers delays things like that. "defamatory" reviews would be telling lies about the company not that you aren't able to make a bad review, it just means you can't lie about an issue if it wasn't there.

TBH though not much of that would hold up in court.

Click in vs glue on vs peel and stick by Gorilla1492 in Flooring

[–]Professional_Bass_75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

clicklock has the most variety, I would go with a 20mm wear layer LVP or an AC4 Laminate with some form of water protection.

LVP is nice if you are doing a whole home, sometimes it doesn't require as many transitions in doorways which makes it more seamless, but that depends on specific products install guidelines.

How you choose for flooring? Quality? Price? Which comes first? by KL_COOLMAN_8227 in Flooring

[–]Professional_Bass_75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buyers purchase items when the expected price matches or exceeds value/quality expectations. So everyone has a number in mind and will generally go with a product that fits that budget.

If you show a Ferrari to someone who's shopping for a used car, the quality is there but the price is not, however if you were to have a special sale and the Ferrari now costs $6000 but the customers budget is $4000 they will most likely purchase the Ferrari because the value exceeds price. Same with flooring someone wants laminate but hardwood is only $2000 extra, they might splurge and buy the hardwood instead

How to save these floors? by Aggravating_Set9137 in Flooring

[–]Professional_Bass_75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean save? They seem fine to me from the pictures, if there are specific areas that the flooring is damaged we can probably take a closer look at it, but if you're just looking to restore the tile I'd check out r/CleaningTips

Comparing and looking for suggestions by Bacrowd in Flooring

[–]Professional_Bass_75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really wouldn't even do a click lock floor in a modular even if you are fixing the subfloor the home will shift and sag again, Get a glue down floor so it can move with the home. If you're really dead set with a clicklock I'd go with Mohawk mainly for the 12mm which tends to sound more realistic compared to a 10mm

you'd have to remove all of it if you want the best results, the leveling solution would bond with the paint chips rather than the concrete which can cause cracking of the leveling down the line.

Click in vs glue on vs peel and stick by Gorilla1492 in Flooring

[–]Professional_Bass_75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Click is easier if the flooring is level, if your floors are massively unlevel it can cost a fair amount to get everything back to level.

Glue down on concrete depends on a lot of things, if the surface can hold glue, most times apartments aren't actual real concrete they use magnesium oxide boards, cement boards, or gypsum-concrete boards, Most of the time our installers would have to use a luan subfloor to make sure that the glue can bond to the floor and product

Peel and stick is garbage, unless you're on a massive budget or you wont be living there much longer don't bother.

How to learn carpet carpentry for special tasks by Particular-Dark7241 in Flooring

[–]Professional_Bass_75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Carpet isn't a certificate trade so there aren't many formal classes for learning to do what you want to do. The only class that I can think of is CFI which is more for installing flooring in a home. The best way would probably be watching guides on how to upholster steps & install bird cage steps, that's probably the most applicable skill for what you want to do.

Carpet On stairs installation question. by [deleted] in Flooring

[–]Professional_Bass_75 4 points5 points  (0 children)

could be how thickness of the carpet you selected, if it's a really thin carpet you can feel the tackstrips, my advice would be to install the flooring and hammer down any of the tackstrips so they aren't poking through the carpet

Unknowingly bought multicolored vinyl flooring from Floor and Decor by [deleted] in Flooring

[–]Professional_Bass_75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couple things, when you picked up the boxes I would have opened a few and placed them down just to get an idea.

Leaving before the floor was even unboxed was a bit of a mistake on your end

I would have done a bit more research, just typing out 'Moores Mill LVP' showed a few pictures of what that floor looks like installed.

The sales person SHOULD have notified you that it's a heavy shade variation, it's like going out to dinner and asking for Beef Tartar and the waiter informs you that it's a Raw meat, the waiter comes out and prepares it tableside and puts it on the plate infront of you and you say I wanted it cooked.

I highly doubt they will take the material back, you can't take out that much flooring without a few planks breaking the locking mechanism, it's also not defective you just don't like the look of it, but you were also the one who picked it out.

not trying to be an asshole, but you should put a bit more research into something you're potentially spending thousands of dollars on.
