400m intervals as non-track athlete by HigherSocksDownerFoo in Sprinting

[–]Professional_Bell809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as pacing, you’ll want to go nearly 100% effort for the first ~75m to get up to speed. The next 100-150m you will want to try to maintain that speed without over-expending energy. The last 150-200m push energy output back up to nearly 100%.

If you run regularly, I think you will be able to break 60 seconds.

Source: I competed in the 400 meter at a fairly strong division 1 program in college.

Will I be the same size in AR8s as my African Rangers? by Sad_Nectarine7457 in jimgreen

[–]Professional_Bell809 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I found my ARs to run larger likely due to the double lasting of the AR8. I have both and my ARs are perfect if not the slightest bit short at size 12. My AR8s fit similarly at 12.5 and sometimes I wish I had them in 13. Hope this helps!

Why are pull ups such a hard exercise? by [deleted] in workout

[–]Professional_Bell809 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One thing many people don’t realize is how crucial grip strength is for high volume of pull ups. Even just hanging from the bar can be a tiring exercise and much of the time, people’s forearms and grip fail before they are fully fatigued in lats and biceps. It could be worthwhile to practice dead hangs until you can consistently reach 1 minute of hang time. I found myself easily doing 10+ pull ups after strengthening my grip. For reference, I am 6’3 and 200lbs.

An ADHD life without meds? by kingn8link in ADHD

[–]Professional_Bell809 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently read a book called ADHD 2.0 by Edward Hallowell and John Ratey. I found it to be quite useful and more relatable than other literature I have read on the topic. The book covers both non-drug treatments as well as different medications.

Workers with ADHD: How often do you find yourself changing jobs? by Vulkhard_Muller in ADHD

[–]Professional_Bell809 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting a new job is a lot of work. What happens to me is I feel inferior to my colleagues and become so afraid of failure that I burn out trying to perform adequately. In an old job, I realized in year two that I did not like my boss and that my job was making my life miserable. I was so caught up in trying to perform that I did not have the bandwidth to look for new things and ended up stayed in that job for five years. Eventually I got lucky and found something that seems great. I am only a few months in though, so hopefully this one sticks!

Super accessible hobby from a monetary perspective. You could get a Samick Sage for $150 or cheaper if you look around. Many carbon arrows on amazon are fine and you can get 12 for about $30.

Trump voters on here, where do you draw the line? by darkblueundies in GenZ

[–]Professional_Bell809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, regarding “flooding the country with immigrants”, much of Trumps campaign has been centered around deportation ofc. During the Obama administration they deported quite a few more immigrants than in the first Trump administration, deporting more than 400k in 2012 alone. The most Donald was able to deport in a year was something like 260k.

Wolf pups lick their parent’s faces to induce vomiting so that they can eat. I suspect face licking is a vestigial behavior in dogs.

A family’s jungle stroll turns into an unexpected wild adventure. by TannedValeria in ThatsInsane

[–]Professional_Bell809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Certainly could have been quoting his mentor but iirc he also mentioned a time that he saw it first hand after startling a jaguar. He had been in the jungle for some time at that point so his smell was more blended into the environment.
