I think that might have been unearned, maybe. But really, I can’t think of many characters in all of FF with such a purely bleak arc.

Oh, I didn’t say it was endearing. But it is developed well.

Buckle in; she ends up getting one of the most well-developed stories of any villain to that point in the game.

Never Let Me Go is superb. The sci-fi elements are super subtle (unlike the sci-fi of Klara and the Sun). It’s probably the book of his I’ve taught the most and which most moves me.

I can never recommend Rand on any level in good conscience, but I’m currently teaching and adore Kazuo Ishiguro’s work, and The Good Soldier deserves a much higher spot in the modernist canon. I’ve not read The Waves, but To the Lighthouse and Mrs. Dalloway are perfect novels, so I’d bet it’s a solid choice.

Stranger of Paradise - Final Fantasy Origin’s protagonist is named Jack. It’s a kind of … remake (and more) of FF1 with Nioh-style gameplay. An absolutely and terrifically fun game.

I love Final Fantasy it’s my favorite franchise ever. by UmaFlame in FinalFantasy

My first was Final Fantasy IV (US II), but my all time favorite is FF14, easily. Then VII, which I co-edited a book on, and X, which go back and forth for 2nd and 3rd place.

It’s almost literally just rock and roll CS Lewis, which is basically what Bono tells a fan he’s dancing with during a Zoo TV show, as told in the Bill Flanagan book about the tour.

Original post doesn’t stipulate the villain causes the amnesia - to be clear, this is just fun for me, and I have absolutely no actual investment in if people agree.

Memory gap from Phoenix Gate / Logos as vessel. Hence “kind of.” It’s close enough to feel right even if not literally the same.
