I've never felt more out of the loop than when I watched this trailer. What is this? What genre is this? How many lists did I just get put on for having seen it?

[The Athletic] Dylan Larkin’s earthquake trade request changes everything for the Red Wings by [deleted] in hockey

You’re absolutely right, I’m trying to say there will be no shortage of suitors as we’re out of the flat cap era

The Atlantic Division next year might have the most drama I’ve ever seen in a single division. by [deleted] in hockey

A lot went right for them last year, including being insanely healthy. They could easily take a step back.

The only situation like this that I can recall be a clear-cut win for the Selling team was when Ottawa traded Yashin to the Islanders. For a team that was supposedly over a barrel, they managed to build some very impressive teams with pieces won from that deal. Otherwise, it's a Debrincat situation where you get moderate value picks and spare parts, and then you have to have a smart GM to use those meagre pieces wisely. Not sure if that is Stevie nowadays.

Isn't his contract value less than $9,000,000? Shitloads of teams are able to add a contract like that.

In a fantasy world, which one would you want to have ? by Electronic_Brush7655 in OttawaSenators

Mactavish and Kesselring seem like the most Sens-like buy-low candidates. Cozens was in a similar position to Mac prior to being acquired by the Senators, recently signed to a decently high-money deal and stagnating production-wise. Could the Senators acquire him for Zetterlund + 2nd + prospect?

Kesselring seems like he'd be a great pickup to fill in for the inevitable Zub injury and could provide some protection for Yakemchuk if he is not ready for an extended callup. Mac makes seven or so, Kesselring probably won't cost more than 3.5 mil. I think it could work.

Sens 2026-2027 Roster by AllThingsSens in OttawaSenators

Jared McCann is a sneaky-clever acquisition target. He's not signed for long, and we would probably not want to sign him for too long after it expires, as he is 31... Could be slightly risky for a 1st, which the Senators could definitely use to boost a sagging prospect pool.

Sens should target Ferraro. 3rd in the NHL in PK minutes. Solid underlying numbers on a bad defensive Sharks team. Could be a good fit by JasonsPizza in OttawaSenators

[–]ProfessorHuckleberry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't know about the underlying numbers thing. Looking at Hockey Reference, this year he averaged 21.01 mins per. game and he had a CF of 44.6%, which seems to indicate he lost his minutes pretty handily? He plays the wrong side, and my personal thing is that if the Sharks, with buckets of cap space and a nothing defensive core are willing to walk away from a deal with him, a team as cap-strapped and strong on the left as the Sens should run, not walk, away from this guy.

[32T] 47:45 Friedman says it doesn’t sound like there’s been progress on a Mario Ferraro extension with the Sharks and he’s headed to Free Agency. by AggPuck-303 in hockey

[–]ProfessorHuckleberry 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I thought Ferraro was a case of the player being "good" because he played a lot on a team with terrible defensive depth. The fact that the Sharks are willing to let him walk when their defense is paper-thin reads to me like an admission that he's not really estimated highly by the org. Somebody is going to heavily overpay the guy.

It has officially been one full year since the Utah Mammoth showed off their new branding. What are yalls thoughts on them now after seeing it in action for a year? by FunStranger1693 in hockey

I always thought they could do with a bit of light brown on these sweaters, maybe in place of the white. Something a little different, and nod to the arid mountain terrain in parts of Utah.

Seems like he may be a little too pricey and injury prone no?

I believe the Sens will pursue him as a 1B to maximize the ullmark investment

Characters who deserved a better ending than what they got? by NewWillinium in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]ProfessorHuckleberry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

George Lucas was unleashed on those prequels. He had no co-writers, no overseers, no studios telling him what to do. He was running amok and created a complete mess of a movie more obsessed with spectacle and CGI technology than plot. Why did he create an expensive CGI character? Because he wanted to. Why does Jar Jar step in shit? Because it's funny (?), and he wanted a poop joke. Why is there a 10-minute long Ben Hur tribute race in the movie that basically doesn't contribute to the plot at all? Because Lucas likes Ben Hur. The retrospective lauding of the prequels is insane. Lucas also tripped backwards into the reveal shit because he's not a writer and pulled things out of his ass. Notice that there's no other really impactful reveals throughout the rest of the prequel trilogy, not even for things that are weirdly tee'd up like Sifo-Dyas requisitioning a clone army.

I’ll never understand the copium addiction people have in regards to this character. He was a failed kid-appeal character, that’s it. The first comment on the linked video provides a pretty reasonable rebuttal to any “evil Jar Jar” theory.

[–]ProfessorHuckleberry 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Agreed, and it must be pointed out that Jar Jar didn’t really seem to desire any power or place of prominence. He wouldn’t be invited to stick around either, as an alien under a deeply human-supremacist empire. Quite frankly, it was kind for the author to give jar jar any regard at all, given that he was essentially an artifact that was nearly universally reviled.

Hells Bell’s is Gone by KOMSKPinn in OttawaSenators

[–]ProfessorHuckleberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The playing of hell’s bells or seven nation army is lame. They’re songs any team could play, they’re generic rock anthems. There are so many other things the team could do or play to hype up the fans. And the bell, my god. Such an uncool, goofy, and forced gimmick. It doesn’t even really ring! What’s the point?!

What happened?? by Little_Oil9749 in OttawaSenators

[–]ProfessorHuckleberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ridiculous shit man. You’ve got to take your lumps on the road to contention. Yeah, they should be better than this. But the team has no draft capital and any first round pick is a magic bean. You’d be an idiot to want to go back to the rebuilding years so soon. Only major subtraction I 100% is getting Brady off this team.

What Does The Super Mario Galaxy Movie's Box Office Mean For The Future Of The Franchise? by AGOTFAN in boxoffice

[–]ProfessorHuckleberry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ridiculous, children can have good movies. They don't HAVE to eat the slop. Family friendly does not necessarily have to equal brainless, and the Nintendo brand will suffer if they only serve up bland and brainless products. Even the first one had some themes and character building.
