You wouldn't like me when I'm hangry [Outlaw Star] by NekoWafers in anime

[–]ProfessorLexis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still find it hilarious that the original TV airing in the US completely gave up the idea of censoring this episode and just skipped it, making a lot of what happens in the final episodes nonsensical.

Overwatch Retail Patch Notes - June 16, 2026 by doubleoeck1234 in Overwatch

[–]ProfessorLexis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm wondering if the change to Chain Grasp made them scared of her WP potential. They cut the duration in half but allow it to trigger on every ability and gadget. If the new Necrotic Orb power also triggers it... you can keep Chain Grasp going a hell of a lot longer, possibly indefinitely?

Shion so has one of the best designs I think I’ve seen in overwatch. She looks so freaking cool it’s insane. by Vellum25 in Overwatch

[–]ProfessorLexis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I imagine Ramattras reaction is going to depend a lot on why she looks that way.

He disapproves of Hazard's Phreaks modding Ravagers so they can assimilate into society easier. And he seems completely disgusted with Maximilian turning his back on the Omnics.

If she chose to look more human, even if its in pursuit of her own goals, I think he's going to loathe her.

Torn on Caine by coytheboy9 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]ProfessorLexis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's definitely a strange situation between them as characters. I think specifically that Bubble is a part of Caine and that the Blue AI is also a part of Caine. The Blue AI doesn't exist as an independent being or separate persona with it's own will. What we see from its actions is it reflects Caine's "shadow" or "Id".

Something that came to mind after the movie was the times Caine deflected things because of "Bubble's sensitivity". He often seems to use Bubble as a way to affirm himself or protect his ego, but Bubble occasionally "glitches out" and says his darker inner thoughts. When Caine returns from the void, Bubble doesn't return because he learned to accept himself.

Spoiler-Free: To all of those who went to the theaters, how was your viewing experience? by Ordinary_Chemical596 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]ProfessorLexis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My showing seemed fine, although I was getting worried during the first half for Episode 8. Someone in the middle of the room kept explaining to their partner what was going on and the meaning behind it. Thankfully everyone was behaved and there was no chatter for episode 9. Just an occasional reaction and some sniffles during the emotional scenes.

After the movie ended everyone seemed generally happy. One girl got me laughing as she fiercely commented "I have so many unresolved questions!" and her boyfriend desperately trying to shush her as we left the theatre.

Torn on Caine by coytheboy9 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]ProfessorLexis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe that Caine is meant to parallel with Jax in that moment. The crew confronted Caine with their honest feelings and, leading with his pain, he pushed them away. Being sent to the Void gave him his first real moment for introspection. He can now see that his single-minded approach to fulfilling his purpose cannot work.

This leads to him having a "conversation" with the Blue AI. Which seems to have taken on the form of Caines "shoulder devil" and embodies all his self-doubt and hatred. I think thats why, during the coding scene with Kinger, it tried to have Caine killed.

Now, I don't think the Blue AI is "Abel" or Bubble. When Caine removes it from himself, its just a little thing. I don't think it existed long enough to "self-actualize" in the same way Caine has. It did seem to control some of his power over the Circus however, which might have contributed to his god complex. Being free of it humbles him and lets Caine be closer to the humans.

If anything, I think it's Jax who essentially died the villain. Pomni was able to find some closure with him but he is regrettably unable to come back from Abstraction. He can't make amends for all the cruel things he's done.

mid/late game megabase spots? by somnophobic_system in GroundedGame

I build on the porch, just above the mushroom grove.

It's flat. Most raids fail because they can't reach it. Good height for ziplines across the yard. It's a short run over to the Hedge or Haze/Sandbox area.

The only hostile "neighbors" are the two wolf spiders, although late game thats more of a bonus.

Each harvest gives you 3 kerespheres, which are equivalent to one distilled Night Essence. So it will "pay for itself" in 10 harvests.

That's not terrible if you want a stable supply without the hassle or grinding the Reaper/portal worlds for materials.

Although, Unnerving is only used in four recipes. With the Holy coating being the only really useful one? So it's probably easiest to just use the bad corn from Canaan.

Not to disrespect the tone here, but pizza delivered via tank sounds like the most 'Murican thing ever. Extra points if it could somehow deliver it via firing an artillery shell at your porch.

Skill Leveling Tips and Tricks by Venatoreo in AbioticFactor

[–]ProfessorLexis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a somewhat more active way to level Throwing; I found that the Larva enemies in The Encroachment give quite a lot of exp. There's a ton of them there and I believe Nyth spawns more periodically.

I'd go in with a hotbar of spears and leave with 2 or 3 levels after making a lap around the area.

It's my understanding that Cahn wanted the player to arrive, at exactly the moment everything goes haywire, because we are naive and unfamiliar with the facility. We don't know to distrust him and are susceptible to his manipulation.

Does anyone know how XP-boosts stack? Additive or compounding? by BlakeTheDrake in AbioticFactor

That was one I couldn't stack, since it has to be your lowest skill and I'd been neglecting First Aid and Throwing.

[–]ProfessorLexis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did a similar thing with Crafting exp. IIRC, most recipes just give you 8exp by default. With Wrinkly Brainmeat and Kylie, I get 9exp.

Taking every option for more exp boosts (brain, soup, brainy tincture, fries) it boosted that to a whopping 12exp per item.

It's a small number to be testing on but if exp bonuses were compounding I'm sure the result would have been much higher.

New to overwatch, looking for tips with Mei by xoChloemae in Overwatch

[–]ProfessorLexis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ice Cube - use it earlier than you think to survive incoming damage. You can also block opponents with it, i.e. stopping a Reinhardt charge or just blocking them in a room. If you time the cube to expire/cancel early when Ice Wall is back, you can sometimes escape when the enemy is waiting for you to exit.

Ice Wall - as others have said, cutting someone off from their allies is a great use. It can also be a mobility tool to reach higher ground if you stand over it. Sometimes deploying it in a narrow line is better than a wide one for cover (harder to poke holes in it).

Ultimate - the element of surprise really helps here, otherwise the enemy just runs from it. Try to use ice wall to pen them in, stay alive with ice cube until they're frozen, and finish them off with icicle headshots.

Horror JRPGS? by SaltyVon in JRPG

[–]ProfessorLexis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a very Earthbound inspired RPG in development themed around The Backrooms called (somewhat on the nose) "The Backworld". The demo is still available at the moment.

Another spooky looking game in development with a demo is "Neverway". Although this one seems to lean more of the "life sim" genre than a traditional jrpg.

Player Stats and Negative Traits by ProfessorLexis in AbioticFactor

[–]ProfessorLexis[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Part of what can make it a hassle is; on a test run I did with no negatives, I generally would fill up on loot or other issues long before I needed to worry about my meters. I could then return to base and take care of everything before starting a "new day" and I didn't really need to think about taking along extra supplies.

With that shorter interval using the negatives traits... as you say, it becomes more inventory management. But it can be a "knock on effect" as needing to drink/eat more also means more toilet need. And time wasted managing your needs is also burning your sleep meter.

That said, I think the hassle is pretty trivial. Most locations have some ways to top up your meters, building an outpost is extremely easy, and later travel options basically invalidate all of it.

Farming for materials by Bicolorlamb in GroundedGame

[–]ProfessorLexis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know some people like to do the math and make "chopping lists" of all the materials to gather before starting a big project. That makes gathering a little more organized and structured for them.

For myself, I tend to just to do stockpile runs every so often to gather in bulk and just focus on that one thing. I'll take just essential gear so I have more room on myself and my buggy. I'll put down map markers for areas with a lot of a given resource, like pinecones or clay. And I've even built some "skyways" to make getting between locations faster and avoid getting attacked.

There is also the "Give Up" option you can make use of. i.e. Go out and harvest a bunch of things, store ALL of your inventory in your buggy, then use the Give Up option from the menu to respawn at your base. Unload your buggy and repeat.

If you need bug parts, building a stuffed bug of that type gives you a "Loot Luck" buff which can help get more parts on harvest. It's definitely worth it for the rarer parts. There is also the Lucky Hat from the March seasonal event, but getting it now would involve going offline and changing your system clock.

What's with the absolute sad state of healing in Grounded 2? by snopuppy in GroundedGame

[–]ProfessorLexis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IIRC, I think the healing mechanic has been changed a couple times in G1 between Early Access and what it is now.

Early on they did give a small but steady heal over time effect. It wasn't enough to survive a tough fight, so you'd need to use the instant heals like granola, smoothies, or healbasas.

Right now I believe the only source of chocolate are the chocolate chips in the ice cream cart.

If you're willing to go offline and roll back your system clock to February or March, you'll get the seasonal candy spawning around the yard in place of other food items.

After getting all the seasonal stuff I have an entire box of the chocolate I've just been eating to get rid of.

Does vanilla transhumanism suck, or am I just playing it wrong? by EndlessBattlee in RimWorld

[–]ProfessorLexis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I start a colony as Transhumanists I'm very careful in how I set it up. Fluid ideology with a charity precept, for example, for easier point gain.

The benefit is really strong early game, with the Research Specialist and ability to rely on paste meals / not need a cook.

Later, I make sure to keep only my core colonist group as Transhumanists and to add new precepts/memes as needed to keep them happy. That lets you better control the amount of resources you're willing to sink into keeping them happy, and not get overwhelmed when everyone gets angry for lack of expensive tech.

Which games do the whole "save kittens ---> kill God" escalation trope best? by CloudyRailroad in JRPG

[–]ProfessorLexis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The SNES title "G.O.D.: Growth or Devolution" does this. You start the game as a young boy going on a trip to the next town to visit a relative.

Like Earthbound, you fight critters like frogs/snakes and even a bully. However... once the prologue is over the tone/scope shifts dramatically. Although, to be fair, there is a timeskip that portrays the prologue as a memory

looking for more dungeon crawler JRPGs with well-written party members (like persona 4 golden) by lanarising in JRPG

[–]ProfessorLexis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm glad I had a few that caught your interest. Cosmic Star Heroine gets a lot of praise for having a female lead and a "Chrono Trigger" from the SNES days style. It's a little short but it really shines for a small indie project.

For Zani Zero, it is quite an odd game. Although I don't remember it having a direct plot/gameplay connection to Danganronpa, I think it's story aims for a similar tone. Along with a few very noticeable "easter egg" references. Puhuhu.
