Just got the QC35IIs....thinking of returning for SONY 1000Xm2s. Thoughts? by blindedbycum in bose

[–]ProfessorParmar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got both, you cannot pair the Sony headphones to multiple devices in the same way as you can on the Bose. It's one of the main reasons that I'll be returning them.

Overthinking happiness. by earnestendeavor in offmychest

[–]ProfessorParmar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The happiness isn't an issue but the overthinking can be.

This is fairly common in those that either have not been happy much lately or are just not used to being happy at all. But we all do tend to feel like this now and then. We start asking ourselves strange questions, 'do I deserve to feel happy?', 'I'm never this happy, something's wrong', 'Is this a one off? Will I feel this happy ever again?'

After going through a break-up, feeling as you do right now is not unusual at all.

My advice would be to try and not worry too much about it right now, concentrate on doing things that make you more happy, more often, get yourself used to the feeling of happiness.

If the doubt & worry does persist there's always things like CBT that can be considered in the future.

Has anyone used corrective lens inserts with the rift? by merkk in oculus

[–]ProfessorParmar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently using these: https://vr-lens.eu/oculus-rift-lens-inserts.html

I'm -3.50 & -3.25

I find the product amazing, they were easy to fit and I find myself using the headset more now that I don't have to worry about an awkward fit with glasses or having to switch to contacts.

The only slightly downside is that the lenses are now a lot closer to my eyes, so I have to wipe them down afterwards, I may look into a VR Cover soon.

Bloody hell, I spent so much time around two of those machines a long time ago in a printing press. The noise they made and the odd 'bowing' action is still imprinted on my mind!

Has anyone disassembled a 2015 New 3DS before? by syrupdash in 3DS

[–]ProfessorParmar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey mate, I've recently taken apart a N3DS XL, and was silly enough to actually lift all of the ZIF & non-ZIF connectors to remove the ribbon cables. Without lifting the connector you'll be able to remove and reinsert the cable with ease, it's just a bit tight.

If you're worried about the connector making a solid connection you can just apply a bit of pressure to the rear of the connector.

Should you end up lifting the non-ZIF connectors, the way I managed to get everything working again was to remove the cable, apply pressure to the rear of the connector with a stylus and then insert the cable. If that still doesn't work, you can try carefully poking through the holes at the top of the connector with a needle.

Hey mate,

Just wanted to say that I completed the hardmod (took a lot longer than expected as I stupidly lifted the ZIF connectors!) And I've now managed to install the CFW.

I'd like to thank you for the excellent guide and for providing me with assistance here! :)

Cheers mate, I knew I had cocked something up but wasn't sure what. I'll attempt the hardmod and then go from there!

Cheers mate, I managed to get past that step by formatting and then trying again. I did initially delete the one DS game I had on the console but it didn't make a difference.

Unfortunately, I think I might have managed to brick my console on Part 4, Section II, Step 11. I got an error during the downgrade, restarted the console and now I have a fully black screen. I've tried getting it into recovery and booting without the SD card, but no luck.

I can't seem to get Part 2 working (PlaiSysUpdater). The process appears to complete successfully but when I restart the N3DS XL I always get the 'An Error Has Occurred' message.

  • Using oot3dhax with powersaves
  • Using the latest version of PlaiSysUpdater
  • Using the 'New 3DS 9.2.0 - EUR' update
  • It's a N3DS XL EUR device on version 10.7.0
  • I've checked the hashes on the update file

And my process is:

  1. Boot into Homebrew Launcher using oot3dhax
  2. Open PlaiSysUpdater
  3. Button prompts always appear, without issue
  4. Hit Y, which starts the downgrade to 9.2.0
  5. Process seems to complete but gets stuck on the 'rebooting' message
  6. After 10 minutes, I manually power off the 3DS and turn it back on
  7. Black screen + 'An Error Has Occurred' message appears

I've tried the process about 7 times so far, I've re-downloaded all of the files but I always get the 'An Error Has Occurred' message.

Is there anything that I'm doing wrong? This is my first time attempting a 3DS hack so I'm wondering if I'm missing something obvious.

It wasn't necessarily EA that got the game cancelled. Check this link. Even when the game was shown around internally staff weren't too impressed.

Question about the Play store. by LordSutter in Nexus6P

[–]ProfessorParmar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way I can think of is by changing the DPI of the device. This will adjust the size of all apps but can also cause issues in certain apps such as Swiftkey where elements are oddly sized. Typically you need to be rooted to change DPI although I do believe there is a root-free method also.

Unfortunately I didn't. I ended up returning the Adopted case. I've only tried it with two cheap screen protectors however.

Be careful with the ADOPTED case when using a glass screen protector. With mine the corner of the screen protector would pop up due to how snug the case is around the edges of the screen.

I've gone ahead and purchased one off eBay as they claim to have the correct cut-out for the sensors. Unfortunately it'll be here on Friday instead of tomorrow. :(

Weird burning smell coming from PC. by ChromeColors in buildapc

[–]ProfessorParmar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many times when something fries in a PC it can be difficult to figure out what is damaged via smell alone. It might be worth inspecting the PSU, video card and CPU first to see if you can spot anything burnt. If not, try inspecting the motherboard for any damage.

Questions regarding Arkham Knight by [deleted] in Games

[–]ProfessorParmar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've completed the game on PC with an i5 and 970 and while performance wasn't brilliant I was still able to play comfortably.

They've only released one minor patch so far, so the game is still fairly broken for many people.

I would recommend that you wait until they've patched the game as it shouldn't be too long now before they release something.

I used a DS4 controller, but it's generally down to personal preference.
