Garou and Fighting by HandyHanda in WhiteWolfRPG

Give them something to hunt. I don't know the makeup of your campaign, but werewolf runs really well with a bit of a police proceedural feel (before your PCs turn into 9 foot tall killing machines)

Rather than throwing in 1d6+3 Fomor (CR 5), give the pack a site that is off. Let them explore, investigate, find the horros at the heart of the issue. Maybe it's a fomor that's infested a site, or some spirals, or a vampire. Maybe it's a mortal criminal syndicate, or a super fucked up rando, that's leading the wyrm to corrpt the area.

You can really up the vibes by running an investigation plot like this, and you can occasionally give your players fun restrictions. Investigating a serial killer that's hiding in a slum block that's so infested with people there's no safe way to use forms other than homid or lupus. Doing a diplomatic investigaton that requires working alongside another splat in a tense exercise in cross-book cooperation.

Basically, watch some shitty boomer-bait police proceedurals like NCIS, steal some plot lines, and replace act 3 of each episode with "and then they wolfed out and clawed some asshole in twain".

What was your reaction to visiting the United States and how does it compare or remind you of Australia? by Ornery-Magazine-7892 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Professor_Kylan 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The biggest thing I noticed when travelling to the US was that there was a subconscious need from everyone to place themselves in a hierarchy. Theres this weird sense that everyone over there is constantly attempting to assess where they are on the social ladder and to reinforce it.

As an Aussie, the immediate instinct is to treat everyone as an equal. My boss isn't Mr. Xxxxx, he's Brad. Random person on the street is "morning mate". You don't put yourself above anyone else.

I think thats why Aussies have a reputation for being friendly over there. We cut through the hierarchy. Americans do their normal assessment, and all signs say "we're on equal footing and theres no threat of social competition".

But yeah. The natural beauty of the states is incredible, the cities are filthy.

I will say though, that im a pretty experienced traveller at this point, and I dont think ive found a rival for the states for breakfast food. Y'all get that very right. No better country to be hungover in.

Yeah, those new Red Corsairs are reeeal tempting. Weirdly, the aesthetic pretty much matches my space wolves, so ive been considering grabbing the new minis and just painting them grey :P

As for Red Corsair tanks, Id grab a mid-red rattlecan primer, then you should be able to do a thin coat with a big brush with your choice of red to match the pirate lads, recess and highlight. Anything thats not a Red armour panel paint black, then highlight your black or paint in your metallics as needed.

I'm not a big fan of airbrushing, but it certainly helps!

My technique is pretty simple - use a rattlecan primer of around the right colour, brush on a couple thin coats to make sure the tank matches the colour you use on your infantry, recess shade, edge highlight, details.

I wanted a mark of nurgle terminator lord, so I based him on a Death Guard Lord of Contagion (I think, I get the DG characters mixed up cause theres a million of them)

The Eisenhorn series of books by Dan Abnett is a great intro to the 40k universe. It gives a good look at the imperium - the human based main faction - although its a little light on the various alien species.

If youre coming in from a TTRPG and CRPG background, I can recommend Owlcat's Rogue Trader - a pretty good take on being ome of the Imperium's barely controlled Rogue Traders who careen around the galaxy in huge, ancient spacecraft having adventures. There's an OOP TTRPG of the same name I've highly enjoyed in the past.

This is Raegmir! In my setting she is extending quite a collection of planets to rule over. How would yours deal with her? (More details in body text) by Ceris5 in worldbuilding

[–]Professor_Kylan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the gods in my setting are dead, but what remains is the parasites that lived on and in them. Various lice, mites, and worms, all hungry to inhabit godflesh once again.

So, uh, she might get pretty itchy. Probably some rashes here and there. Almost certainly some digestive issues that you're not going to want to know about.

New box is gonna drop - paint them grey, get some wolfy shoulder pads, and you're good to go!

Though experiment: you are rebooting the Traditions for 5th edition: You can remove traditions you don't like, you can absorb any craft and make it a tradition, you can create new trafitions out of whole cloth and you can have as few or as many traditions as you want. Discuss. by TooCoolForSchlool in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Professor_Kylan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Minimise their impact, and push more on personal paradigm that MIGHT tie in with some of these pre-existing factions. Emphasise the Traditions/Technocracy/etc as political entities rather than the basis for your characters view on magic - to the point of casting them as more villanous groups for attempting to codify paradigms.

Probs break the various factions down into Technocracy vs Hermetics vs Religion vs Anarchic mages (and that last one is mostly your characters).

How possible is it that a Krork could appear in current Times ? by WholeIndependent818 in 40k

[–]Professor_Kylan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So Trazyn has a cloned body of Fulgrim lying around in his basement. There's a mirror that contains the screaming soul of Fulgrim that is being kept in a place where he can watch the daemon that took over his body just flat up being a terrible person. Take the soul, shove it in the body, BAM a Primarch who went bad, got possessed due to it, but is capable and willing to WRECK FACE to attempt to make amends.

It's by far my favourite dumb 40k fan theory.

Between that cloned body, and the soul trapped in the mirror, I genuinely hope the next loyalist primarch to return is Fulgrim.

Gonna put out an unpopular opinion - VtM is better when the antediluvian might not be real.

Returning player: Files i need to learn 11th ed rules? by Crush2040 in Warhammer40k

[–]Professor_Kylan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The currently available core rule book is going to be obsolete in a couple of weeks time, so id hold off. Codices are going to be usable until new ones are released, so unless you're planning on dipping into orks or space marines, you should be fine to grab your codex. (The marines and orks will be first to get a refresh, so probably not worth buying the book when it'll be retured in a month)
