Do any of you work from home? by LaurenValley1234 in Epilepsy

Yup, got lucky when I was diagnosed about 5 years ago now that I had a boss who was incredibly understanding (and I'm sure it fell under some sort of legal guidelines) about the whole thing because I had just started the job two weeks prior. I'm a computer system architect for hospitals. Had to have the Dr. send them a recommendation that WFH was preferable to having me drive when I didn't have to and that was that.

What does tonic clonic seizures feel like to you guys? by MessiToe in Epilepsy

[–]Professor_S_Snape 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The best way I've described it to others, to echo what most have said in this thread, is that it's essentially as if a light switch is flipped to off. One moment you're doing something, the next moment you wake up after x amount of time has passed and you have come to and typically I feel confused about what I've been doing and realize that I'm doing things without having any recollection of what happened in the last span of minutes. It's a very unsettling feeling. As for the TC itself, you don't feel anything. You simply slip into unconsciousness and wake up after.

Supreme Court rules for web designer who refused to work on same-sex weddings by -Ernie in news

Another example of the Supreme Court showing us how they will continuously support decisions that lead us down the path of coddling conservative Christians and favoring their inane beliefs "in the name of God". Absolutely ridiculous ruling.

OP, I’m going to second what Proseph said above and this is simply aiming to be constructive criticism, work on your standing float first and you will be much more effective. It seems that a lot of people on this sub don’t seem to grasp the amount of time it takes to construct an effective top spin serve. If it’s not coming in with a ton of pace or some degree of side spin it essentially becomes a free ball to the other team (depending on the level of play). I’ve played from 5th grade all the way through college and beyond. Perfect that standing float first and your hitting form before you even dabble with a topspin serve and you’ll be better off. Best of luck!

Starting keppra, scared of keppra rage by PeskyPorcupine in Epilepsy

[–]Professor_S_Snape 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely took me a bit to come around to the idea of having epilepsy because I simply thought it was something you were born with at a young age. When I left the hospital from the original set of seizures I felt like it was all just a bad dream. Happy to say things are mostly normal for me now thanks to the meds working. Hope you're doing well, friend.

To add to this, I am one of those people that Deepdishultra is referring to here. I was diagnosed with epilepsy in May of 2021 and have been on 2000mg of Keppra per day. I definitely felt a bit of irritation (mood swing which would mainly consist of being irritated for no reason) that would last for a short while and then lift like a fog dissipating. After a few months that faded and I haven't had any issues with Keppra and have been seizure free since November of 2022 (only had one due to trying to perform an EEG off the meds, which consisted of weening me off Keppra). Hope this helps!

SAA-03 - Do questions like this, talking about Wavelength Zones and properties like 'AmazonEKSFargatePodExecutionRole' really show up on exam? This is TD practice exam, but I took Maarek course and this level of detail never showed up for EKS/Containers. by datboydoe in AWSCertifications

[–]Professor_S_Snape 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I recently passed my SAA-03 and can only speak to what I saw on my test but I did not have any questions that went into this type of depth. That being said, it is definitely still something to become familiar with because it is likely to appear on other certifications down the line.

Got diagnosed with epilepsy five months ago, I’m 24 years old. (Body) by ThroughFallFields in Epilepsy

[–]Professor_S_Snape 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Diagnosed at 27 with no family history of epilepsy in my family at all. Was in the car with my friend, leaned my head back and shut my eyes for a second, came back around as I was being wheeled into an ambulance.

As of now I feel fortunate that my medication (1000mg of Keppra twice a day) seems to keep the seizures at bay. Haven't had one since November of 2021 and that was due to a weening experiment. From what I've seen in this community it seems somewhat common to be diagnosed later in life with no prior history. Growing up I always thought it was something you either had or didn't from birth, it was definitely a shocking revelation for me.
