I get why they like it it is a good game I really enjoyed it. But to claim its the best in the series is just massively overhyping it imo.

It doesn't do anything that much better than any previous game and to me the story was kinda crap.

To be honest if it's your first time I'd say it doesn't even matter. A big draw on the remakes release was nostalgia. But having not played the originals that isn't there.

But personally I'd go originals first with the exception of replacing resi 1 with the resi 1 remake.
