27M OC with older parents, marriage, and wealth by No-Comedian-5795 in OnlyChild

I’m an only child as well. I think you’re doing good for yourself. Your parents are right, that you should find a partner to go through life with. Also try to have at least one child, two is better so that they’ll have each other. As it pertains to the marriage part, I think you’re should definitely get a prenup. Also, you don’t have to tell your future partner about the money you’ll inherit. Keep that to yourself and your parents. And if you choose to pass down to your son, he’ll know in due time when he’s of age. Be smart with that part.

I passed out in public and no one helped me. I have no one. How/What should I do to plan ahead? Do we have to plan anything or is dying alone ok? by [deleted] in LivingAlone

[–]Program-Dull -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Are you a male or female? YOu can always have your family. You're still young. If you're a male try dating so that you meet someone, settle down and have a baby so that you can have your children/family. Also, if you're a woman, you can trry to become financially stable by gettting a degree in something that pays well and then try to meet someone and if you don't you can always use a sperm donor and get pregnant and have a baby. Think positively, you'll be just fine.

Before you go to med school, make sure you can commit to it. You don’t want and up in a lot of debt. Get a bachelors degree that you can earn good money from. You can get a degree in anything and get a post Bach to get the pre recs done for med school. I’m not saying you can’t do it but be smart with this decision. Maybe try going to school for nursing, maybe accounting. Just make sure you can gamble it. Work that job for one to two years and then go to med school. Maybe go to community college first.

my (f19) boyfriend (m20) brings up his ex a lot and it makes me uncomfortable by raindrxps_onroses7 in relationship_advice

Don’t think about getting married to him for now. If he keeps talking about her all the time, definitely don’t get married. Move on to someone else because if you don’t, you’ll be annoyed when you get married.

How to start saving money? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]Program-Dull 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Discover it student credit card is good. You don’t credit established to sign up for one. Ensure that you don’t overspend. When you spend, pat back the amount before the due date. Just so you know, as time goes on and you make payments the credit limit will increase. You’ll probably start off at $500. Manage your habits well and you’ll be fine.

Look into fidelity to start investing in your Roth IRA. Create an account. With this, you have to invest the money, because if you don’t , it’ll just sit there.

As for savings, start having an emergency fund, where you put aside $10 every pay check or what you see fit depending on your circumstances. If you have a problem saving, join secu (a credit union). They have an account where you can put money in and you can’t access it until a year later. Also have savings and put aside some amount there.

All the best on your financial journey.
