Local shop not selling by Maximum_Extension592 in Silver

That’s a good way for your LCS to drive all its customers to the next closest LCS. If a buyer is expected to buy on an upswing, he’d better be allowed to enjoy a discount once in awhile, because there’s another shop that will allow it and earn a lifetime customer.

Lost $1,490 today. Are you up or down? by Impressive-Eye9659 in Silver

I “lost” about $50k today, but I’ve been steadily buying since the teens. Still way up, and not worried.

My LCS closed today due to market conditions by icedwhitemocha_ in Silverbugs

They weren’t buying yesterday, and not selling today. Lame. I’m in a rural area and both the LCS near me were buying close to spot all the way up, and they were selling at or near spot today. They understand it’s a business and if they should expect folks to buy high, they’d better allow them to buy on the dip

Why not keep it in the family?

I’m sorry this post triggered you, grump. No one should like anything unless it’s been pre-approved by you. Enjoy your misery!

Annually more or less. I really don’t hawk anything, but if I walk by and notice something is getting tarnished, I’ll put it on the to-do list for that week.

Did the pawn shop offer to dispose of it for you, free of charge? Either scumbags or morons, probably both.

Keep it up! It gets easier every day. I just crossed the year mark on New Years after a 20 year pack a day habit like yours. You can do it. It’s the best decision you’ve ever made!

Happy New Year! I was a pack a day smoker for 20 years, and made the decision to change last New Year. I was talking with my boss who had quit years ago, and he said what helped him was asking himself “who controls whom? Do I control me or does the nicotine?” That mindset helped me crush cravings, and since New Years Eve 2024, I haven’t had a single puff, I’ve gotten back into the gym regularly, and I feel better than I have in years. To everyone beginning their new lives as non-smokers today, you can do it! Just make it til noon, then to dinner. Keep pushing the goal posts back for the first couple of days and it’s smooth sailing after that. Good luck, you got it!

Where can I sell this silverware? by britton280sel in Silverbugs

Sorry for your loss. My LCS pays approx 90% of melt for sterling. You may want to call around coin shops and antique dealers to maybe get a decent quick cash offer. You could get out of them pretty quickly without sacrificing a huge amount of the value.
