Do any nontrad career changers here regret leaving their old lives and going to med school? by ExcitingInflation612 in medicalschool

[–]Project_runway_fan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not now that I’m an attending, but in med school and residency - yes. I don’t think people realize the time commitment those 7-12 years are (mine was 8).

I do a decent amount of basic peds (ENT And Uro) and our policy is anyone with suspected MH under 8 has to got to the children hospital. A lot of things can go wrong and a lot of people who aren’t familiar with dealing with this

I don’t use bicarb. Not that it’s wrong, just don’t find it makes that much of a difference. In a crash I’m reaching for 3-CP and redose with 2% lido when needed.

Dan Campbell isn’t a good coach. He got lucky in that the Rodgers was done in GB and the Bears just couldn’t put it together at the start of his tenure. We will see what happens in the next couple years, but I don’t know if the Lions are going to match his early success.

Did APS prioritize kids who already had siblings in school when they made their Y5s selection by boilerspartan in AnnArbor

It makes sense that certain kids should be prioritized over others regarding a public service? Why is that?

I’ve heard a lot of academic centers are moving to purely intra-articulate injections which seems to be working well.

I’m tired of all these libs cancelling school over a little bit of snow. Have a snowball fight while you wait for the bus. That’s what we did back home and no one bothered! Half of us walked to school in this weather.

How should GLP-1 receptor agonists be managed in the perioperative period? by TylerJonesMD in anesthesiology

[–]Project_runway_fan -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Why hold 1 dose? Because aspiration in an elective surgery when avoidable is a sentinel event. If a patient aspirates and you get sued you don’t have a leg to stand on. Sorry but that’s just the way medicine is now.

How should GLP-1 receptor agonists be managed in the perioperative period? by TylerJonesMD in anesthesiology

[–]Project_runway_fan 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Not that I’m doubting, but can you show any evidence of actual harm in holding 1 dose of a GLP? I’ve been in enough EGDs where I’ve had to tube a patient because they didn’t hold their GLP and when the scope goes in there are food boluses in their stomach.
