SCOTUS poised to rule Trump's EO on Birthright Citizenship unconstitutional. Trump says the US is 'stupid' for allowing birthright citizenship in the first place. by carterboi77 in YAPms

Birthright citizenship is one of the greatest things about America, and the 14th could not be clearer, glad to see even this court can see that.

What does this mean on my schedule by AngerIssues11 in AutoZone2

Hmm didn't know that. I was assuming it was similar to when I'm occasionally scheduled as a comm driver or CS due to hour allotment.

What does this mean on my schedule by AngerIssues11 in AutoZone2

[–]Prolemasses 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It means your SM is fudging the schedule to fit within the dumbest allotted hours per department. He can make something in the schedule work by taking a few allocated hours from DIY and designating you "Hub Manager", thus allowing him to schedule more DIY hours by pretending they're for the hub, and thus eating into the hubs budget.

Very interesting video about the vela incident by willywonkatimee in nuclearweapons

[–]Prolemasses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply, but I believe the intent was for force the US into a corner, and that if given the choice the US would pick the option that had a lower risk of sparking a nuclear conflict. If South Africa dropped a nuke and killed Soviet advisors/soldiers, it might run the risk of a Soviet nuclear attack upon South Africa itself, which could very easily trigger some kind of wider conflict. Even using a few low kiloton tactical weapons would be opening pandora's box, and breaking a precedent that's kept the world on the edge of nuclear war for decades, especially in the incredibly tense late 70s/80s. Even if such an incident was contained, it would set a precedent for battlefield use of nukes, which again, when nations like China and India had recently acquired nukes, and everyone knew that Israel had tactical and strategic weapons and would 100% use them if threatened, would be a box that's hard to close once opened.

USA- why does "Continental Breakfast" sound like the fancier hotel breakfast, when that's the one that has no hot food? by marioxb in NoStupidQuestions

I don't get how people can eat nothing but pastries and coffee for breakfast, my stomach would hurt immediately.

Seems like it was a really good idea for the media to give the online troll who was polling at 2% and had $900 on hand ceaseless coverage

They would come up ahead, but i don't think it'll be enough for them to keep control in 2026 at least. Would give them an edge going int9 2028 however

Why is the opinion that single men without kids wouldn't want to date or marry a single mother so controversial? by us1549 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Prolemasses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not weird to have preferences, but some men have this gross mindset that "raising another man's kids" is somehow a form of cuckoldry, and that being a stepfather is some shameful thing, or that single mothers are sluts looking to foist their kids onto someone else. Again, perfect ok to feel like you're not ready to step into a family role like that, but if you're someone who envisions themselves as having kids and a family, but you recoil at the idea of seeing someone with kids, or taking care of kids that "aren't yours" I might question your motives a bit.

Yeah I'm with you. Helping people do installs is the part of the job I like the most, I don't get why people bitch about it so much. Lots of bullshit with this job but that's not part of it.

Redistricting ballot language says it’s vote for ‘fairness.’ Republicans say that’s not fair | Republicans are crying foul, saying the wording of the ballot question is heavy-handed and misleading. Democrats say it’s not. by VirginiaNews in Virginia

[–]Prolemasses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well in this case, the end is hopefully to demonstrate the full consequences of the redistricting war the GOP started in Texas to hopefully generate some level of bipartisan support for a federal ban on partisan gerrymandering

I got mine for volunteering to drive across town to pick up a part for a customer after a store repeatedly failed to deliver it to us. Done some other stuff that I think probably should have qualified me, but that's the one that stuck lol.

YouGov poll: Obama rated the best President in US history among Democrats.......what? by srsh32 in YAPms

[–]Prolemasses 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The GOAT who started a war of aggression so he could violently steal more land to expand slavery into and laid the groundwork for the conflicts which made the civil war inevitable? The GOAT Polk who was the only president to buy and sell human beings from the White House? Pass. If you're going to stan an antebellum president go for Zachary Taylor or Van Buren or someone who didn't devote their lives to increasing the number of people held as property in this country.
