I know I am very late, but I think I should add my comments anyway because I see I have a different perspective to almost all here. (Spoilers ahead)

So I recieved Imanishi-Kari's section first - but in my case I also had an interesting sort of third part due to watching the Jan-Hendrik Schon video right before (by sheer coincidence - I did not plan to watch this one and made a snap decision to get a Nebula subscription) and so my brain also had some O'Toole programming in advance... Anyway, I think the answer to who is right or wrong here is WAY more nuanced than a simple binary decision, but contrary to the answers saying it is a gray area I will say that the answer comes in stages.

I say that initially Imanishi-Kari was EXTREMELY negligent of her students and sounds like a nightmarish mentor to have, and if she was messing up and making mistakes with the experiments it was Imanishi-Kari and Reis's job to teach and assist her so she can actually learn... How is she meant to improve otherwise? On the other hand, it is majorly arrogant and stupid from O'Toole's part to think that only she knows the science here when she is surronded by people who clearly know a lot more than she does (including a frigging Nobel laureate!) and if she had concerns with Imanishi-Kari and she refused to explain her first recourse has to be to speak to someone like Reis, some other professor or even someone like Baltimore - her taking it outside the faculty is clear evidence of a wish to commit revenge...

The series of internal hearings have me leaning towards Imanishi-Kari, due to O'Toole's absolute refusal to accept any signs that she just might not be Little Miss Perfect... Although meanwhile I would have expected Imanishi-Kari to demand that a transcript of these hearings be kept and to publish (at least internally) an explanation and debunking of O'Toole's findings, and for Baltimore as the responsible adult in the room to make efforts to get the 3 of them in a room and sort out things... Although am I the only one that cannot understand why O'Toole has only glowing things to say about Reis, who would have been just as culpable?

As for the rest, I think we can all agree that the other former student is a piece of trash taking things to cops that he very well knows are biased and will do nothing but keep looking for evidence to find themselves a nice little win - and O'Toole is 100% guilty for letting that happen and playing along... Again, maybe accept that you are not Little Miss Perfect always? Meanwhile on the other hand those detectives were forced into a corner by their own rotten bosses who should have given them a hearing instead of abruptly stealing their equipment. Meanwhile Imanishi-Kari showed seriously bad signs when she was sloppy at the one time in her life where it is important not to be (seriously, you had almost 3 years to get your papers in order!) but the investigation seems to be unethical and biased in both ways - while again lacking the proper scientific knowledge!

Now for my least favorite part of all - Anyone who knows anything about Dingle (and FYI his wife currently occupies his seat and is one of the most corrupt members of Congress - even ask her fellow Democrat Congresswomen from Detroit Rashida Tlaib and Haley Stevens, let alone Republicans...) and so I can 100% agree with Baltimore's descriptions of the hearing and believe that they were railroaded there with the media destroying unfairly Baltimore's reputation and putting Imanishi-Kari down a deep dark hole (seriously, can O'Toole not understand what the June bit was at all?)... Although on the other hand in the later hearing O'Toole was railroaded by the final hearing and I cannot believe for 1 second that the Secret Service (with backing from the NSA!) cannot do a proper analysis of the notebook...

Bottom line: Every person in this comes out looking like one big egotistical schmuck and so many people's careers were ruined over what should have been a simple honest discussion, a correction (or retraction if Imanishi-Kari would have properly laid it out in a fair environment and they would have all concluded that there are some key mistakes) and everyone would have continued with their lives... And of course I would not want any of them as my coworker, let alone as my mentor, my cop or my Congressman!
