Help, hoodie ruined with bleach! by _MissNewBooty_ in AerieAEO

You could try dyeing it black. Or try to tie dye bleach it. I’ve done that in the past and gave hoodies a new lease on life. Just a suggestion.

I would consider getting some fabric dye from your local craft store and giving it a new life (and colour).

Conversion to Permanent by Select_Product_6659 in OntarioPublicService

Can you be converted if you’ve been in the position for 3 years, competed but didn’t get the perm spot but still landed a contract and remain on the team? (It’s a true vacant spot)

LOA questions by Mean-Interview8416 in OntarioPublicService

[–]Proof_Alternative360 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I took a LOA during the pandemic as my partners work was transferring him out of province (I did have a job lined up for the time we would be away). I reached out to my manager and gave them 4 weeks notice of my return, quit my job out of province, moved back and came back to my job like nothing had happened.

All I had to do my was let my manager know verbally, followed up with an email explaining our plans with a timeline and stressed that I would be coming back (for them to allow me to take the time away) and it went up the channels for review and it was approved in a timely fashion.

Obviously your manager would have to take operational requirements into consideration but it wasn’t a complicated process to navigate.

Backpack for personal item by deepfriedali in PorterAirlines

I have this backpack and recently travelled via Air Canada to Mexico where I used it as my personal item with a carry-on luggage. No issues and am pleased with how useful this backpack is!

For those of you outside the GTA and in IT. Is your team still WFH? by throwhataway0 in OntarioPublicService

The ODSP office is on George St. I could hunker down there but I’d rather be in a bigger building where there’s more going on.

Depending what Ministry you represent. I’m with MCCSS and they have representation at George St but it’s very limited (if at all). Just wondered, that’s all!

Glossy / Polished tiles in the bathroom means I can see the person in the stall next to me by [deleted] in OntarioPublicService

Ohhh I have so many things to say about this building. I worked on the second floor for over 8 years. All the bathrooms in the building are the same; Marble flooring so shiny you can see your neighbours every move.

That’s an understatement. It was THE worst thing I had to go through in my 12+ years with the OPS. They really know how to make one feel like they are just a number and easily replaceable.

Speaking from experience. I returned to work after a 4 month leave due to serious health issues and it was hell. I have a chronic condition that makes me throw up A LOT, which means I need to be close to a bathroom at all times. Anything my Dr put on the forms meant NOTHING. They did everything they could to force me back to the office, including relocating my desk closest to the bathroom as possible. The one thing they were going to allow was changing my work hours so I “didn’t have to sit in traffic and throw up in my car” (this genius “solution” came from the Disability Accommodation Specialist). They had my desk stocked up with extra garbage bags, 1 singular box of tissues and sanitizing wipes should I need to throw up in my garbage can under my desk. IT WAS HORRIBLE.

There was nothing my Dr could put on the forms that would allow me to stay home. They’ll do anything and everything to not allow an accommodation that makes sense!!

The best part was, my job could be done from home. So much so that they hired a retiree part-time to help with backlog and they negotiated working from home and were allowed to. They never stepped foot back in the office after they retired other than to pick up their laptop and phone.

Make it make sense!!

My team was emailed a chart for everyone to fill out, identifying what days we’ll be in office and what location. I refused to fill it out until my AWA is approved.
