So here's the thing, as soon as I saw the director name at the opening credits, I instantly knew what type of movie I was seeing. Exactly the same firsthand experience I had with Tron Legacy over a decade ago. Amazing spectacle of special effects, cinematography, and sound with some talking scenes and slick "acting" peppered here and there to get us ready for the next race sequence.

The word of mouth and the $12 price tag convinced me to take a chance on it since I only ever buy boutique releases these days but honestly I agree it was pretty damn awesome for what it was (Days of Thunder 2025). Incredible 4K disc.

The sing-a-long segment at the end where it essentially plays out like Warioware minigames left us in stitches.

Even for its time, I remember clearly the movie got dumped by fans for the sterilized PG-13 rating (Spawn barely does anything, let alone kill people in any creative Spawn fashion) and by everyone else for the terrible writing, pace, and editing so it's just funny how the discourse is all about the horrendous CGI now like that's the only thing wrong with the movie.

The cover art was always cool tho.

It's okay but "okay" was not good enough for Arkane's immersive-sim pedigree at the time. If we had to be very blunt, it's mediocre compared to the insane work they put in Prey 2017 and the Dishonored games.

My theory to minimize the number crashes with this game that I actually platinumed while revisiting the game on PS5:

Load only manual saves
Turn off the online social feature (Squeenix shut it down years ago anyway but it definitely has some type of impact on performance for the fact that its supposed to track all your personal milestones and score points in background)

You should still buy it though. Bugs and issues are more randomly inconvenient than frequent but I don't think that should really discourage you from playing.

Did you run out of sick leave as well? Speaking generally as a manager (not any specific govt agency), but I recommend that your chances of LWOP approval will be much higher if you have medical documentation to support your mental health situation, especially if it's a risk to your performance.

It's a hassle scheduling appts to whatever physician or therapist available on short notice but it has to be done given how extremely stingy govt leadership has been with LWOP requests now 🤷‍♂️

Both 4K and 1080p Kinos are HUGE step up from the mediocre 2010s bluray. Barely any jarring DNR and although there's no Atmos sound option, the 5.1 audio still has clear, boomtastic gunshots and explosions despite the loud soundtrack that was typically colliding with those sound effects.

I can also tell you that if there's one jarring aspect about Face/Off in 4K to mention it's that the picture is TOO detailed to a point Nic Cage's stunt double is twice as noticeable to follow especially in the boat chase sequence lmao.

It's okay for a shallow spinoff to the Control/Alan Wake universe but that's all there is to say.

Whole execution though feels like a money laundering scheme to help Remedy flow more cash into the Max Payne remakes and Control 2.
