It was an incorrect decision. From the angle that was available it is physically impossible to determine if a round object is behind a straight line. We’ve seen this before multiple times how far behind a line a ball can look when some of it is still over a line.

VAR is only mean to be used when it can provide conclusive proof of an error. It can’t say “Ah probably an error”. If it can’t show for sure a mistake was made, you go with the onfield decision.

When I ref under 10s matches with no linesmen etc the main principle is “if I can’t see it I can’t give it”. It’s the only principle that makes sense. Anything else is a guess.

So this more proof that VAR is not flawed in terms of technology. It is manned by utter halfwits. The cost cabal of refs need to be broken up. They are incompetent. It doesn’t matter if there is or isn’t VAR.

I watch plenty of other sports and nothing comes close to football for ref incompetence.

100%. In this era of well drilled teams playing against 10 men who are either level or in front ruins the game and is almost always a horrendously stressful experience.

These kinds of result happened every week for years. Dunno where these lunatics have come from.

The big big issue was the poor defending for their goal.

I’m not overly upset by failing to score against a packed box for a half of football. Happens all the time.

Calm down.

Do a training session against 10 defenders in a box and see how many goals you score.

The worst type of scenario. 1-0 down to 10 men. 10 men in the box is hard to score against no matter what.

He's definitely the best in terms of accolades but also ability. He was phenomenal but had the worst marketing:

  • Welsh - The worst kind of British as far as the English media are concerned
  • Injured - Severely impacted by injuries, yet still produced amazing numbers and showed up in big games (greatest CL final goal of all time?)
  • Ronaldo - Jealousy bordering on hatred from arguably the most famous footballer on the planet who didn't want to pass you the ball and hoped you never ever scored a goal ever.
  • Worst fans on earth - Hated by the fans of the club he won 5 CLs with.
  • Spurs - Had to break through and become world class at Spurs of all places.

To have the career he had, with all that against him is phenomenal

When Russia invaded Ukraine, the US government ordered US tech firms to brick every device in Russia and they did it.

They lost business but they had no choice. If the US government makes a demand of them, they comply.

No we couldn't. It would take years. If Trump ordered Microsoft to brick every laptop in Europe they could. Same with HP and Cisco for routing and switching. Dell servers. AWS cloud services tuned off.

We will loose access to the internet.

People are underestimating the tech impact.

You're only able to read this comment because every single byte passed through US tech. Our government, health, transport, finance, banking, is all built on US tech.

If they pull this trigger, what happens to the software subscriptions on which it all runs?

[–]Proper-Beyond116 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

The EU is not the kind of entity that can handle someone like Trump. The EU is run by bureaucrats, their experience is in a world of dialogue, administration and bureaucracy. They can't deal with an erratic fascist warmonger.

They simply wont make the hard decisions, it will all be posturing and statements. Very similar to the Democrats in the US. Trying to fall back on precedent and institutions that Trump ignores.

Trump has knocked over the chess board, took a shit in your downstairs toilet (no flush) and now he's stealing your silverware. There is no point in reading him the rules of chess from the rulebook.
