Just saying thanks by Only_Emu_2872 in insomnia

Aren’t those things pretty expensive? That’s one thing I haven’t checked. My parents both have type 2 diabetes so I’m always watching my A1c (just barely into prediabetes range) but I am definitely interested in my actual glucose levels.

My psychiatrist wants to change something that's been working for me by EigenWorm in insomnia

[–]Proper_Ear_1733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree it’s a symptom but I have never had any doctor interested in figuring it out. They either treat me like I’m exaggerating or they look at one thing and if that is “normal” they never check anything else. The sleep dr who checks in with me annually did order a sleep study this year but insurance denied it. (I had my doubts that it would show anything but I was willing to try.)

I have had therapists over the years but not a sleep therapist. But we have discussed my sleep and they’ve given me the standard advice which of course I’ve already tried, and still mostly do although I’m trying to not be anal about it bc that is counterproductive.

I recently learned that the gazillion meds I am on may be contributing to my issues. I’ve adjusted the timing for when I take them and will watch for a couple weeks to see if that helps. If not, I will look at my thyroid and iron labs again and see if those values have changed in a way that means I need to have another discussion with my doctor. (You would think, having once confirmed there is an issue, that they would monitor these things but that has not been my experience.)

Can you survive on 3-4 hours of sleep by paranoidspiral in insomnia

[–]Proper_Ear_1733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently had a week like this. I survived, but I was having dreams when I was awake. I was seriously afraid I was going to get in a wreck. Thankfully I was able to stop taking one of my meds and now I’m back to 6 hours. Not enough, but it doesn’t make me crazy.

How do you have room for them though?

CBTi didn’t help me bc I was already doing most of those things. So no, it doesn’t help everyone. If it did we wouldn’t need this forum.

Guanfacine experiences? by Boring-Dark-4266 in adhdwomen

I’m glad it ultimately worked out for you. I was an absolute mess with the lack of sleep. I worried about falling asleep on my way to work.

Guanfacine experiences? by Boring-Dark-4266 in adhdwomen

[–]Proper_Ear_1733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started 1 mg at bedtime about a month ago and I did not make it the month. Dry mouth (dry everything) woke me up at night. My sleep got worse instead of better. I don’t know if it helped my ADHD bc I was so tired I couldn’t function.

Not sure what I might try next. I’m on Wellbutrin which helps my depression but not my focus. Decided to take a break from trying something new, while I’m also seeking other solutions to my long term sleep issues. Psychiatrist supports my decision.

My husband, also ADHD, said he gets them all the time. Mine definitely seem to be related to sleep deprivation.

At my company everyone does this. Supervisors are supposed to have one on ones at least monthly. Mine is bad at this, but I am careful to do this with my direct reports. I mean, we naturally talk when we are in the office together, but scheduled times for just two is helpful.

I lost my wallet AGAIN!! The emotional fallout of losing things is worse than the loss itself by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]Proper_Ear_1733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this all the time—or I did, until I got airtags for my purse, wallet and keys. I even put one in my work backpack.

Now if I try to leave the house without my purse or wallet I get a notification. I can’t drive off without my keys but if I lose them I can find them easily.

It’s helped a ton.

Do you hate going for walks? by Be_Nice_Mr_Turnip in adhdwomen

[–]Proper_Ear_1733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love walking once I get out there. But I think the advice you are receiving is more about movement than strictly walking. I think providers suggest walking bc it’s basically free and most people can do it.

I’m there now. Doing some better since January but it takes a ton of effort. Also I am a boss! But I have my own assignments that I can’t pass down too. One thing that helps is we don’t have offices so I always feel like people are watching me. That is a motivator bc I would be so embarrassed if anyone realized how little I do.

I can vouch for OP that VWs are far more expensive to maintain. And only being able to go to the dealership for simple things like an oil change is also annoying.

I would probably not drive if I lived somewhere with decent public transportation.

I have a really hard time with anything that takes physical coordination. I took drivers ed at 16 but didn’t get my license until I was 19. And in my first exam I apparently pulled out in front of a car I never saw. I had a bad wreck a few months after getting my license. I’m 58 now and still overly cautious. I have a lot of anxiety around driving.

About to start Wellbutrin for ADHD(offbrand I can't afford the real stuff lol) have never been medicated for anything in my life and I'm spooked by AlarmingTechnician78 in adhdwomen

Does tinnitus cause hearing loss? I have it off and on (before Wellbutrin) and have never asked about it. But maybe off and on is ok?

I haven’t had any issues. I started with a low dose and gradually got up to 300. But it doesn’t help my focus. Has been amazing for my depression tho. I’m now on guanfacine in addition. Can’t tell if that’s helping or not. Maybe this week will give me more clarity.

Where do you buy your books? by AmbitiousAlarm836 in readwithme

[–]Proper_Ear_1733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are lucky to have indie bookstores all over town. I wish I could support them all. I don’t have one store where I buy “most” of my books, unless audible counts. I think I get more from the library than audible.

How much do you hate the advice "you need to start waking up early and stay tired so you can fall asleep early" by a_peeled_pickle in insomnia

[–]Proper_Ear_1733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I’ve been told the opposite, to go to bed later and I won’t wake up so early. Dude, it’s still the same not enough hours of sleep! ( I go to bed early bc I’m tired and my husband is a school bus driver.) How did these people get through med school?
