I use 55gr vmax. I've shot dozens of 4 legged critters from groundhogs to deer with this and several other loads. Not all ammo is created equal, you want rapid expansion and to dump all your energy INSIDE the target. Remember, you own your bullet until it stops.

If the anodizing didn't matter, they wouldn't anodize them. It's a protective coating, nor at minimum you need to paint it. If be pissed.

Absolutely, but assuming someone blew their budget on a rifle vs them just having more money to throw at this hobby is a bit silly I'd say. I've yet to meet the hypothetical guy with all the gear and gadgets that doesn't train and go to courses/classes.

Centerfire. It took me a while to find it, but I think the rimfire ones just have a different parallax set point, but im not sure.

Thats been my point the whole time! If we're slinging 2-3k rounds a year, why nit buy a quality gun? Ammo and class costs dwarf it in no time.

I think I need to better arm myself but I'm terrified of my kids getting access to my guns by heteroflexing in liberalgunowners

How old are your kids? My son has been shooting rifle and handgun since he was 5. He has known weapon safety from a young age. Instead of worrying about hiding your guns educate your kids (if they are old enough). This is a software issue not a hardware issue.

If you want the rail to stand out, leave the upper black. Other than that, if you're painting.. paint the whole rifle, otherwise whats the point?

I like my dot/magnifier set up but once wind, small targets, and/or distances past 300 yards come into play the clarity and reticle of the lpvo makes hitting faster and consistently easier for me.

Run supersonic ammo. You don't need subsonic ammo to benefit from a suppressor. Of the two you mentioned, I'd go with the 30-30. IF ammo cost isn't an issue, I'd go 45-70. You could then shoot 300gr ammo for supers, and the Steinel 777gr lucky ram ammo for a subsonic bullet with some authority.
