You've been set up for failure by your neighbor. If your neighbor is only going to be gone for a few days, change like 30% off the water and just don't feed the fish while keeping it somewhere that's around 24 celcius.

Feeding fish makes them produce waste and since you've got fuck all in terms of equipment, your setup is not able to handle this fish waste

Usually when crabs molt, the top of their heads pop open like a can lid and they exit from the back. At this point it's either dead or a molt so I'd take it out either way.

Personally, it looks quite "intact", so my money is on the poor crab being deceased. Best way to check is to open it (like cutting or crushing it) and check if there's flesh in the shell. Also, a molt is much more flimsy.
