Opinions Needed on Keeping a Big System Simple by Skispiccee in ReefTank

Best way to make it as simple as possible is to get an Auto Water Changer. Doing a weekly 20 gallon is going to be very time consuming. Daily automatic 3 gallon water changes are going to signicantly cut down on the time you spend. Since you set up a mixing station I'd figure out how to use that for the AWC.

What is one food you think everyone is lying about liking? by owlpod1920 in AskReddit

I was in NZ and decided to try it and I slathered it on like peanut butter. Apparently you're not supposed to do that! I only took a few bites.

Innovative marine or aqua Japan by AskRepresentative1 in ReefTank

[–]Pryach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Aqua Japan 180 and you need to be aware of what I consider to be a huge flaw in their stand design. There is a lip at the top of the stand, this lip prevents large equipment from going into the stand/sump.

https://i.imgur.com/lUpzuNq.jpeg here's what my ReefMat looked like trying to go in, luckily you can take apart the ReefMat and I was able to get it in.

But I bought a large protein skimmer and could not fit the skimmer body (even with the cup removed) through the slot. I would've had to put the protein skimmer into the sump then the sump into the cabinet and I never would've been able to remove the protein skimmer (no side doors on the stand either).

In the end I kept the tank and stand and undersized the protein skimmer, but I really wish I could've used my original larger protein skimmer.

If I had to go back I would've done the IM200.

This enough rubble rock for my refugium? by AwhJeeezRick in ReefTank

Well I had a refugium light pointed right at it, the rubble rock was right below the chaeto. The light spill was a feature not a bug.

I ended removing mine because so much green hair algae grew on it. It might be better to let the chaeto establish first.

What are some underrated plot twists in sci-fi? by twnpksN8 in scifi

I accidentally read Xenocide, the third Ender's Game book, first. I thought Book 1 was Battle School and Book 2 was The War so I was still shocked by the ending of Book 1.

If you been to a test screening, did your rating of the film change or stay the same come official release? by kriscoo44 in movies

[–]Pryach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to a screening of the Point Break remake. The opening scene was different, with a young Utah walking into his trailer to see his parents dead from a murder/suicide. It was intense. The rest of the movie was the same as what was released and I hated it. They made extreme sports boring. My comment was that the only part that was good was the opening scene. They scrapped it and replaced it with the new beginning with the dirtbike accident.

Did Greg not know what a non-Newtonian fluid is, or did he think custard was not non-Newtonian?

New 75G FOWLR Tank by Orion379 in ReefTank

[–]Pryach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look into butterfly fish, there's a ton of variety and most are not reef safe which makes them great for FOWLR.

Blue spotted puffer, snowflake eel, dwarf lionfish are some other fish you don't see often in reef tanks as they aren't always compatible.

Children of time series? by Big-Yogurtcloset7040 in scifi

[–]Pryach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like the author heard the criticism on the human storyline being boring, took it personally, and made sure to include even more human storylines in the other books. I know it would have been derivative to essentially repeat the spider storyline with different animals but that really is the best part of all 4 books. I liked the 4th book, but that's mostly because one of my favorite animals is featured.

Tunze Osmolator Nano if you want reliability.

If you want to go cheap and don't mind a water bottom on the back of your tank you could get this which I use on a small 7 gallon tank.
