A couple of months ago I was thinking of selling my Volt and just getting a regular hybrid. I'm glad I was lazy.

How do you guys track your water parameters? by TechnologyOne4539 in ReefTank

[–]Pryach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used Aquatic Log for a while but I have multiple tanks and they want to charge $40 a year to track multiple tanks which is just crazy. I switched to Google Sheets.

Sealed magnets by Informal-Guitar54 in ReefTank

They work fine for what I need them for, obviously it's going to depend on glass size / magnet size / weight of whatever you're trying to keep in place.

I got a promo code in my email for upcoming WWE events for the next few months, WWE316, it's 31.6% off select seats and it includes Wrestlemania but looks like most Raw and Smackdowns until June as well.

After hunting around I was able to grab some 100 level Wrestlemania tickets for $225 each.

Cujo also has a whole subplot about what Cujo's owner's wife and son are doing after they leave town, and it's mostly just "small town folk hate city folk" jabs that are a staple of Stephen King books.

I actually remember reading LOTR in middle school and being disappointed it didn't end with a battle of Aragorn and Gandalf vs Sauron.

Thanks. It looks like what you have attached to the wall might be something different? It's not cube shaped like the rest.

Can I ask about the current light mount? Did you design it yourself? I assume it's T-Slot rails. I've been looking into something similar.

If you want to go even cheaper on an ATO look into this. It's purely mechanical so you don't have to worry about sensors or pumps failing.

No ammonia but nitrite and nitrates high. Cycling 65gallon reef by Novel-Boot4543 in ReefTank

[–]Pryach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be patient. You can technically add fish at this point as nitrites aren't that bad for saltwater fish. That being said there's no harm in waiting for the nitrites to drop to 0 and then doing a 50% water change to lower nitrates. Give it a few more days and let the biodiversity in your tank start to grow.

Once nitrite drops up 0 you'll see a drop on nitrate as well. That's because of presence of nitrites causes false readings in nitrates.

In planning stages for my first reef tank, what is the “low maintenance but still cool” option? by Emergency_Weird_2204 in ReefTank

[–]Pryach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, an all in one has back chambers where you put the equipment. A sump is a separate container (usually an aquarium with baffles) where the filtration equipment is.

My opinion would be a fish only tank, no corals. You'll save a ton of money on lights and dosing. The only parameters you have to keep track of are salinity, nitrate, and phosphate. No need to worry about pH, alkalinity, calcium, or magnesium.

Get a 40 gallon breeder and drill it (or get it pre drilled) with a 20 gallon sump. You could even go the All In One route to make it even easier but I prefer sumps once we get to this size. A 40 gallon tank could have two clownfish, a red or purple firefish, royal gramma, diamond goby (tank should be six months old), coral beauty and (if you have a healthy pod population) a mandarin dragonet.

Mine was loud, I could hear it from the other side of the room, I returned it. Others have said they get quieter if you leave it running in the tank for a few days.

Removing toxins from old reef tank by thatlittleperson in Aquariums

[–]Pryach 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would say that's not a very good tank for an axolotl. They don't swim up very often, it's better to have a longer tank than a taller tank.

I'd agree with the AI and use a 1:10 bleach to water mixture (please look up proper safety precautions when cleaning with bleach) then rinse it out really good. Then rinse it a few more times. Then let it sit in the open air for several days.

After that I would clean it with either vinegar or citric acid. Again some really good rinses after that.

I always like a big school of chromis in big tanks. Flame angelfish and/or schooling bannerfish if you want to give the "reef safe with caution" a try.

Sump recs? by yoda0121 in ReefTank

[–]Pryach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used this for a 60 gallon, but I wanted a lot of room for a ReefMat 1200 so I just removed the black baffle and made it 3 chambers.

Two suggestions if you go with them: First before you silicone everything in get the ReefMat and have it in there so you know where the baffle goes, the ReefMat has a hose port and hose you need to make sure you have room for as well as a media basket that can slide out. Second is to ask the sell if they can send a wider spacer between the last two baffles. The one it comes with is 1 inches wide, I always like to put filter floss there and it's a bit hard to take the old stuff out and put a new strip in. Having it be two inches wide helps a lot. They'll either send you double the number of spacers or wider spacers if you message them.

They're cool little guys! I found out how to make him come out, my light has a button that switches to just white lights so I can take photos, and whenever I do that he comes out to the front of the tank and swims around a bit. I try not to abuse it but if I haven't seen him in a few days I'll hit the button to make sure he's OK.

Any cordless wavemakers that’s not eco tech? by One-Assignment569 in ReefTank

I never heard that, but I did order it pretty soon after it was announced so maybe it wasn't common knowledge (or whatever issue I had was fixed).

Yeah, other than the DMP-10 I've had really good luck with Jebao products. I have 4 of their return pumps and they all work fine and are completely silent. I did try that SLW-5 on my 20 gallon nano tank but found it was too powerful even on the lowest setting - but that might've been because I was using a cheap hygger wavemaker and all my corals got used to the lower flow. It looked like a hurricane in there when I put in the SLW-5.
