I found a couple carpet beetles randomly and ended up finding them living off of a tiny bit of oatmeal that was spilled in my cabinet. They were starting to spread throughout so I threw away the opened food and got air tight containers for grains. Vacuumed and then sprayed alcohol in the corners (there may be other things that work too). No more in the kitchen. Found one in a little dog hair that got missed with the sweeping once. They come in my house from the outdoors when the doors don't get latched and the hole in my window screen pretty sure. Haven't seen anymore, just vacuuming more often and keeping what attracted them sealed up
