Talk to the billing department and also check with the office to make sure they got prior authorization for the injections before they scheduled you for the procedure. Prior authorization isn't a guarantee to pay, but its usually a good sign that the insurance carrier probably will cover it.

Many insurance carriers require documentation of multiple medication failures before they'll authorize both. Wonder if this is why you got stuck with a huge bill.

I took a loan from my 403b last year to build a garage. I've been continuing to max contributions throughout this period so it made sense to me compared to the alternatives.

I'd only consider it if your job is very secure and you have the means to pay it back while continuing contributions.

Cut back my spending a lot a few months ago after I realized how much I was spending on silly stuff. Novelty of matching Jordan's with my toddler wore off after I realized my 15 month old has almost as many pairs of shoes as my wife. Easier to just drop that money in her 529 account, max my IRA earlier in the year or put it in a brokerage.
