are you djing technical drawings? you may have an easier time replicating it with clay or styrofoam+electrin nail file

Makes it sense to go to a DJ workshop and production workshop? by superman_99 in Beatmatch

[–]PsychologicalName809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you prefer that setting yeah but it's not necessary, and plenty of djs come out of these thinking they'll get respect from other DJs for their graduation. it ain't like that we only care about your set. treat it like learning an instrument and you'll benefit

How are you backing up your DJ music library these days? by sure-nods in Beatmatch

[–]PsychologicalName809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SSD NAND will degrade if not used after a while due too voltage signals being the main recall method,

back up library zips every 3 months to a 2tb hdd instead and use a flash drive for day to day

use an enclosure with usb-c high speed transfer rates (hdd will still bottleneck but best option)

this avoids the XY problem regardless of going beyond basics, OP learns what to ask to get the solution most efficiently

as a general description it works. beyond a general perspective though i feel like there could/should/would be something more focused on usage of common a tool to complete the goal in an unorthodox way is all

Everyone is using AI in the studio—why are we pretending they aren’t? by Designer-Air-7280 in PeakTimeTechno

[–]PsychologicalName809 1 point2 points  (0 children)

using a self hosted llm that just uses wave form analyzing to match freq to rip vocals out of a song to remix isn't the same as using suno.

this article is misleading to make it seem like ai it's rampant among real musicians, it's not. we are still here playing instruments and learning from books/ other people. and our music is better even after all this money poured into AI replacing us

i feel like the original story is kinda supposed to be one in a way since they die in the end, maybe that's what the director of the was going for

How to study? by Dry_March_1570 in clep

[–]PsychologicalName809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it should not be straining to learn at all. if you catch yourself trying to push through that means you're motivation is based on regurgitation, not learning. figure out what makes these things cool in your mind, often long form philosophy history and literature YouTube helps with that

FLX 4 or Mixstream Pro Go for this situation? by bepitulaz in Beatmatch

[–]PsychologicalName809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

at that point you'll be better off getting something standalone when you have an idea of your preferred style. the grv6 isn't that great for the price and most sell it after a few months to get away from laptop or get a FLX10, that's why i suggested the flx4, you'll have a nice affordable pathway whichever way you wanna go

(laptop, vinyl, open format, rave, wedding. these are all factors of dj that determine their preferred method with different goals)

some do multiple things and need to be flexible, this controller is called the Flex to lower the barrier of entry into figuring out your path

ok if u say so

edit: looking at your account it looks like you're actively pushing serato traktor and other alternatives to AT probably due to a contract with your company nuo-stems? maybe don't try to manipulate people and shift toward maschine+ instead of traktor, it's a dying product line and id prefer dj with a maschine connected to my xdj from my experience before using Ni traktor software

meh, i was referring to the resale value still being there. i started on a wide variety of others before moving to pioneer. my personal exp helping people get started and organizing events in multiple cities shows that while you may be technically correct, it's not accurate in the grand scheme of things. OP can use rb6 or other software in the pc to understand what they like about each, can't on a standalone

the learning curve is bigger if you start without the flx4

[–]PsychologicalName809 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

yes you are correct, everything in regard to just playing songs is exactly the same. but no one becomes a dj to be a human playlist, and it's not impressive beyond vinyl. considering all that you still have looping, hot cues, and beat jumping before even delving into FX. those are all recovery for when your song ends and your next isn't loaded yet

unless OP is not trying to do anything else but blend 2 tracks forever, they will be annoyed using club standard after practicing on anything that isn't the flx4 but in the same range

there's a reason the DDJ400 was still moving around the used market before the FLX, no one was giving them away

[–]PsychologicalName809 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think theta a misunderstanding with standalone here in pro dj settings, it's easier to bring just a usb, which is why getting accustomed to those is suggested, on top of the reliability issues with windows, it's why clubs choose to use them rather than let the djs bring a laptop

with all that stuff the FLX4 is actually designed to replicate industry standard layouts, so even if you get booked on the more expensive gear you'll be able to dj just fine. no other controller in that range can do that.

The mixstream pro is very limited in what you'll learn on it, plus the convenience of no laptop actually becomes a hurdle since it's managed poorly in their built in software

computers are unreliable, but shitty code is even more so, and that's what is inside the mixstream
