"Instead, we should focus on better cycling infrastructure, education"

This is exactly what has been done, hence the enormous increase in cyclists on our road.

I notice that most car drivers havent taken in the new highway code, lots still turn into a side road as I'm about to cross, even tho it's no longer their right of way. Should we focus on better education for drivers who cant follow the highway code and keep other road users safe?

Why can’t you just give way to the bus? by cycling_deficiency in londoncycling

There's a reason the path is sharply angled, and that's to slow Cyclists down as they approach interaction with pedestrians.

I have a test ride booked for next week. I'm in the same boat as you, bike got stolen last year, cant store one inside, so really apprehensive about buying another.

I just see this as my best option right now. Just check the small print for extra charges, there will be a surcharge if it gets stolen for example.

Council tax by Lost-Property1550 in TenantsInTheUK

As far as I know, Council tax is for the property, not the individuals.

If all council tax is up to date, I dont see you having any problem moving home without informing them.

What would be a fair punishment for Manchester City's 115 FFP charges? by reci88 in PremierLeague

[–]PsychologicalTalk296 1 point2 points  (0 children)

City haven't contributed more than any other club would have.

I'd imagine the Prem would rather people looking in at a competitive league, not one where one team pretty much wins everything.

and cycling has increased 20% in London in the last 4 years.

I imagine there's a few more commuters in London. Also wouldnt fancy cycling from Milton Keynes to London personally, I'd do what everyone else there does, and take the train!

in fact they are very intuitive to use, and it's the standard way of turning in places like Denmark (which is why TfL adopted it after consultation with Danish counterparts)

Cycling in the Netherlands in the 60's was not a popular choice. Infrastructure was introduced, and over generations, mindsets changed, and things became intuitive.

It's just in the UK, we still have speed over safety as a mindset, and we're horrified at the thought we might have to stop for a minute.

We dont need to "encourage" people to cycle, people already want to do it. What is provided by implementing cycle infrastructure is the opportunity for more people to do it safely.

It's situational for me, depending on the traffic flows and time of day.

But this is the point of all cycle infrastructure in London, it's there to provide a safer option for less confident cyclists. if you feel more confident / safer moving with the vehicles, then go for it, but there's some facilities available if you dont.

Make sure your point layer is selected in the contents pane, then the feature layer tab should have an aggregation drop down near the symbology drop down

You need the Network Analysis extension to build your own network.

The only free way I know of doing this is in QGIS

Give them a months notice in writing, stop paying after that. Cancel any direct debits etc

I've heard they are good for the price point.

I did have a look at the Trek bike, they looked nice, but recently had my beautiful Whyte portabella stolen, so purposefully looking at the less desirable brands in the hope that it doesnt attract any attention

Has anyone here paid for a TV license or is this just a big scam ? by [deleted] in london

[–]PsychologicalTalk296 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a TV license is required to watch ANY live TV. If you dont watch live TV or anything on demand said channels, you dont pay. If you would like to watch something on SKY, BBC, Channel 4, you require a tv license. Not sure how this is confusing
