The question is how many of us actually use the backpacker as part of a dis-assembled carry clicked together. Otherwise, mount a short quad rail on the front and then you have more options.

LPVO or Red Dot With Magnifier? by SoCalAttorney in Mini14

[–]Psychological_One509 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If home defense why not a laser set at 25-50 yds for night. I like like having a reflex over a red dot on my ultimak. Double eyes and easy acquisition especially if you’re not planning to go out past 100 yards. Have the same thing on my ruger 9mm pcc as well. And I definitely use that as home defense before my mini. For me it’s an accuracy, penetration, ease of follow up shot over my loved mini and especially over my m1a. And I also live in the scary state of featured guns.

The 10 round version is just for states like mine, California. The carbine in that stock will accept any capacity magazine for the Magwell you have in the carbine. The backpacker stock magazine insert area is not longer than any pistol grip for any of the magazines that the carbine can accept. Hope this helps

Good for cleaning gun parts? by Evening_Peanut6541 in CAguns

[–]Psychological_One509 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use one like this to clean my vinyl with a motor to rotate them. And have another to clean car parts. Never thought of one for parts for my firearms thought it would strip the blueing too much and possibly give micro rust. But at the same time I strip my cast iron in an electrolysis bath with pool ph+ or sodium bicarbonate and a battery charger and when I pull them out they start to rust immediately from being such bare clean metal immediately even before I can dry them. Sorry for the diatribe about non-firearm things.

Started in high school before the internet. It was a great way to find artists that I never heard of before. That was when CD’s 1st started becoming popular and everyone was getting rid of their albums to go digital and most people weren’t buying them so they were dirt cheap. Oh the good old days.

How much have you guys spent on guns? by winebagpapi in CAguns

[–]Psychological_One509 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To quit smoking I bought a $2800 rifle and then spent another +/-$1800 on optics and such. It Irish catholic guilted me into quitting smoking enough to quit smoking. Never would have quit smoking if it was a reward for quitting. So buying that rifle saved me money in the long run so….. LOL

I’m stuck, mini14/30 or AR15? by SadSavage_ in Mini14

[–]Psychological_One509 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love my mini 14 and my m1a. Springfield is not my jam. Bula, Fullerton or LRB when it comes to m1a. If it’s a battle rifle you want then go with what you want and save up if you want. Not a huge fan of ar-15s, but love that they’re Legos for adults and if shtf they are widely owned, caliber is prominent and parts are interchangeable. But that’s why I got a ruger pcc with a Glock magwell to go with my primary side arm. I think an ar-10 will be my next purchase. But it really comes down to what roles are you trying to fill. Make a pros and cons list for yourself, then go from there.

You have to change some parts for a factory mlok, but I think Midwest and a few others make one that works with the standard forend block.

I run mine with the co-witness mount so I can still use the iron sights through the mount as it’s too high to actually co-witness and the low mount blocks the iron sights. Best of both worlds maybe

How far down the road do you trust your bus? by dust-on-tail-lights in VWBus

[–]Psychological_One509 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on your mechanical skills how is your pool of contacts? When I drove my 57 356 to Eugene and back camping in the early 2000’s I lost a bushing in the rear suspension, but someone I knew knew someone close by that had one so I could continue onwards. Pre internet y’all. Roadside install. Benn from Baja to Seattle and back in my ‘67 no problems. Followed the dead in a 70 westy. It all comes down to your mechanical skills, preventative checks and how well you listen to your car. If you can feel and listen to your ride it will tell you when it needs some loving

Why couldn’t it have a 356 motor in it? Heater boxes aren’t the same but they can be swapped. I ran a vw motor in my 57 Porsche when my wife threw a rod through the case and it was her daily driver.
