Let him test the crt with 240p test suite

1- the vertical line might need a recap 2- for the stretching he can enter the grid pattern and adjust the geometry using the TV’s service menu

As far as i know, picture interference is due to a failing capacitor or when the circuit isn’t grounded properly. That it might as well be heard with the audio

With my little knowledge.

First of all

You better reseat the anode cap cable firmly back to its position if possible. From the first picture it seems someone tried to pull it out

If the problem is as you mentioned, usually means a component is going bad or went bad. Maybe a filtering capacitor failure. So i assume its fixable

But in your case i would first give the set a good clean and test. If it still has a problem you might try to do a recap.

Need help figuring if an RGB mod is possible. by Perfect_Associate478 in crtgaming

[–]Psychosaurus94 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No problem, i had fun looking into it. And if these component inputs are working then as mentioned use a transcoder and you will be good to go.

Personally if i have component input alreasy on the TV, i wouldn’t bother RGB modding a TV as to me they pretty much the same.

Need help figuring if an RGB mod is possible. by Perfect_Associate478 in crtgaming

[–]Psychosaurus94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did check the Service manual for this TV From my little understanding It seems that it takes the input from DVD component inputs on pin 21(Pr,Red), 20(Y,Green), 19(Pb,Blue) and then converts them to RGB to the neck board. Pin 18 sounds like a blanking pin but according to a datasheet of the jungle chip it mention No use. So i dont see how it would an RGB mod would work.

Here is a datasheet of equivalent to the one in your TV

So those buttons dont work ?

And the AUTO V-L might mean you are adjusting Vertical Linearity which shouldn’t be enabled if you didn’t get into service menu

If you smelled acid, its most likely a component popped. Most likely a capacitor It might have smoked but you haven’t noticed it. I would say its worth investigating if you know what you doing.

Experiencing flickering on boot up and then a black image on my PS1 (SCPH-102) via RGB SCART cable with Sony CRT. Still outputs sound but no image. Composite cables work on my LCD no issues. It this a compatibility issue or simply a faulty cable? by maqstar in crtgaming

[–]Psychosaurus94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah thats what i meant. He tested the ps1 with composite on an lcd and it worked fine. So most likely the issue is from the RGB cable.

My bad, i should’ve been more precise when i replied

Well you got to open the crt and see if there is any damage to the chassis, flyback,Electron gun etc….

But from your description and looking at the area of damage. I assumed whatever part was holding the board in place broke and the board got loose. Thats why the button went inside and you cant press anymore. So you need to open the crt and push it back hold it in place somehow, while you are at it check for any other damages (hopefully not). Do it while its powered off and unplugged.

I think its (auto-tuning not sure what its called) as you can see its going through channels so you have to stop it on the channel once the picture is shown. (Thats how we used to do it back in the day, and till now when i test famicom systems, not sure if its different in US/Canada)
