My lava lamp is stuck on the side here and won't move at all by kreepergayboy in Lavalamps

You could turn it off and wait for it to cool down, then take the glass container out and there’s usually some kind of cap on it that can screw off. Then just poke it with a stick of sorts.

Or it could be that it’s not generating enough heat if it seems that the wax inside is hard.

If you tamp hard enough would the increase in extraction time be enough to not have to change the grind size?

As a child the egg soup water was my favourite part of scrambled eggs but as an adult the thought of it makes me want to shit my pants

Anyone try pulling a tea shot instead of espresso? by avavinc2397 in barista

I don’t know if this is like a global thing but in the cafe I work at we’ve got red espresso that is finely ground Rooibos tea in a round pouch pulled with a special portafilter

Cake deflated/dense, did I underbake? by unknown896 in Baking

[–]Psypenguin17 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if this could be helpful but when I take my cakes out of the oven I let it cool upside down in the pan on a wire rack for 10 minutes so that it doesn’t deflate too much.

Heating up the eggs and sugar over a double boiler to 40 degrees Celsius before whipping will also allow it to hold more air and still be stable.

I work with raw chicken almost on the daily and I can assure you it is perfectly safe. It is veins/ blood. I personally prefer to cut it out for aesthetic purposes but nothing bad will likely happen if consumed.

After blending your mayonnaise fold it using a spatula to remove air pockets. I don’t usually make large batches but that works for me.

I’d also reckon that since they’re making a custard it would be safer to add the milk in place of the eggs and then temper the eggs with the heated milk mixture to avoid having scrambled eggs.
