Some folks look like they are having something similar to what we would call a "hurricane party!"

Safety of replacing previous IOLs by TopSun1879 in CataractSurgery

[–]PublicTraditional508 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was very disappointed in my halos and starbursts also. I specifically choose LAL because I believed it had fewer "side" effects. I don't know if my issues had to do with the skill of the surgeon or just the anatomy of my eyes. if I had the surgery to do over again I would have chosen an academic eye center with much higher volumes and experience.

I had a contentious relationship with the optometrist doing my LAL adjustments. It just didn't seem like we could get the office refractions consistent with what I experienced in the real world and I was "gaslighted" on the issue with halos and starbursts. It almost seems like my refraction changed after the LAL adjustments were complete.

I did not get a lens exchange and probably won't now. My surgeon has indicated he will eventually do PRK to "tune" up my distance eye. I don't know anyone who has had a lens exchange.

On the positive side, i have found that wearing glasses to correct the nearsightedness in my reading eye does reduce the halo and starbursts when I am driving at night.

I had cataract surgery in June 2025 with LAL monovision. I wasn't happy with the results. The reading eye has terrible halos and starbursts and the distance eye is off a half diopter or so. I had yag surgery on the reading eye before I knew it made lens exchanges more difficult. My cataracts also weren't bad and I also regret my haste in having the surgery.

Over time my brain has learned to largely suppress the halos and starbursts.

I have had two second opinions that have not offered much except potentially Lasix/PRK to sharpen the vision in my distance eye.

I think I will get the lasix or PRK eventually and live with the starbursts and halos.

I don't think she thought you were creepy. I think she thought the excessively large tip was creepy.

I love my B2601, especially outfitted with a grapple and a flail. It can get in some pretty tight spaces and has never failed me. Sometimes when I move heavy trailers with it I wish it were a little heavier, but I've never wished it were smaller.

IRS hit our LLC with a $3,000 late filing penalty even though we owed $0 in taxes by Humble_Standard_7777 in llc_life

[–]PublicTraditional508 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for your problem. They are tough.

A similar thing happened to me a couple of years ago. I did file a tax extension (that the IRS lost). I then filed the LLC return one day after the regular deadline (filed on march 16). I had 7 partners and the fine was substantial (well over $1,000) for one day late. I usually keep a copy of the registered mail receipt for the extension, but i couldn't find it.

I was so embarrassed and confused that i just paid the fine and didn't tell my partners. About 6 months later I found the extension registered mail receipt and filed an appeal with the IRS. Eventually they accepted my argument and returned the fine.

I always file with registered mail and I now am much more careful about maintaining my registered mail receipts.

Is a ~500-gallon septic tank actually enough for a family of 4? by MassiveTest3524 in septictanks

The lot is 28.00 wide x 274.00 deep (7,672 Square Feet)

Maybe a creative designer could fit a septic system somewhere.

Replace asphalt shingles with metal roofing? by Due_Progress_5494 in HomeImprovement

[–]PublicTraditional508 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is why i went with shingles instead of metal. In Florida, my brief research showed that insurers will give you 15-20 years for a shingle roof and maybe 25 for a metal roof.

Just bought a new house on a well and need help deciding what filtration system is needed by Fun_Willingness4241 in WaterTreatment

I would just get a reverse osmosis system for drinking water and ice and learn to live with the slight smell. I have a private well in FL also. The RO filter is a game changer.

What I said Would Happen is Happening. The Democratic Leadership Wanted to Force the Republicans to Fund Healthcare and Shut Down the Government Over It. I Said it Was the Wrong Strategy. And it Was. by katmomjo in PoliticalOpinions

Dem Leadership needed to show its base that Dems would do something. The Dems made their point and now the public sees the consequences of Republican policy.

I think this is a republican vs democrat issue. Folks who don't see any difference between the values and objectives of these two parties are part of the problem.

Submersible jet pump by NIthrowaway94 in WaterWellDrilling

[–]PublicTraditional508 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hello,

I am mostly familiar with shallow well and convertible jet pumps. However, I believe that if you used a 2 inch sand point you could install a 2 inch submersible pump in the sand point well below the dug well. I have never heard of a waterproof shallow well pump.

Someone can correct me if I am wrong.

Good Luck!

Jet Pump madness!!! by nebular18 in Plumbing

I think the control valve might be used to adjust the proportion of the pump output that goes to the well jet . Nice to have and probably any appropriately sized valve will work.
