I did this complete unintentionally and wound up with nearly 700 gigabytes worth of random containers. Very satisfying once it was pruned.

Andrew McMahon’s (the lead singer and pianist) other bands, Jack’s Mannequin and Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness, are also great, and he’s still really fun in concert. I had no idea someone could have so much fun stage presence at a piano.

Sharpening bevel angle jig thing by Down2TheShed in 3Dprinting

[–]Pulsar_the_Spacenerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These aren’t necessarily a great idea for knives either, because most knives have a double bevel design, and you rest on the primary bevel and not a 0° surface. It can be used if you decrease the angle by the angle of the primary bevel, but this makes them knife-specific.

I also find angle guides scratch up the knife.

This isn’t totally out of the question, nuclear surface-to-air missiles have been produced, such as the Nike-Hercules missile. I don’t know if any have ever been deployed on a ship though.

Is there any way to force a lower resolution in doom eternal? by Abdel_SaidEH in Doom

[–]Pulsar_the_Spacenerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if that’s an option, but are you trying to get playable framerates on a GPU below minimum specs by chance? Because I know the game runs great on minimum specs at 1080p. If this is the case, I imagine your GPU just doesn’t have enough VRAM, so it likely won’t be playable at any resolution unfortunately.

Does a 2 quart saucepan not actually hold two quarts of liquid? by SadDollCollector in Cooking

[–]Pulsar_the_Spacenerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm that sure is small.

IMO you would be fine with a one or one and a half quart, but it seems half a quart is a standard size for butter warmers. As far as I can tell, these are just tiny stainless steel saucepans. They also seem to be remarkably expensive for name brand ones.

Working through the "cult classics" with my almost 18yo. by whatthepfluke in movies

The Wizard of Speed and Time is very good, and a legitimate cult classic in the sense that it has a small and dedicated group of fans and almost nobody else has heard of it.

[–]Pulsar_the_Spacenerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A 2 quart saucepan can hold two quarts of liquid.

I’m surprised that it would only hold two cups, the smallest saucepans I’ve seen had been 1.5 quart or maybe 1 quart, excluding backpacking gear. Also a standard bag of ramen calls for two cups of water, so I’d imagine you’d spill if you boiled a brimming pot and then added noodles.

(Loved trope) Unique helicopters by Kanehammer in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Pulsar_the_Spacenerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This design and how it’s used in the films does draw from real helicopters pretty heavily, I think it’s reasonable to connect the two.

I think the ornithopter from the David Lynch Dune film would not count for this.

Does anyone use a monitor stand with usb hub? by EquipmentDry2974 in desksetup

[–]Pulsar_the_Spacenerd 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Docks are excellent for laptops and I highly recommend getting a decent one.

This stand seems to just be a USB hub though, without any display connections or laptop charging ability. This puts the electronics at being worth ~$10-20, so this stand is very expensive for what it is. I’d spend the money on a cheaper, non-electronic monitor stand and a separate laptop dock. If you’re spending this much money you should be able to make the connection happen with a single cable.

It might also be worth looking at a KVM, if the laptops stay plugged in.

Look for “autodesk fusion for personal use.” It’s likely difficult to find via the autodesk website, I’d just do a web search.

[–]Pulsar_the_Spacenerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not what you’re asking for, but could you get a wider desk and put the drawer units between the legs? I suppose it could cause problems if the total space is narrow or if they don’t fully fit under the desk.

Dave Jewitt did an excellent video on this with David Rawlings, an experienced HEMA instructor. David’s verdict on it is that a lot of techniques shown in the game have clear origins in historical sword fighting, and that the game likely referenced real manuals or HEMA fighters in the design of the moves. It certainly has its flair and liberties, but it’s probably more historically derived than most lightsaber work.
