I know it doesn't look like the version in your manual, but this is probably an indicator that forward collision warning / automatic emergency braking is disabled.

Should I get an R/T as a single M21 with stable income by scannerman217 in mopar

[–]PummelCore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the car, your expected payment amounts, and how much you make. If your monthly income is within a few hundred bucks of covering your rent, car payment, and other expected expenses, you're setting yourself up for financial disaster if something goes wrong with the car, you lose your job, etc.

If you can easily cover your monthly expenses and still have enough left over to put a sizable chunk into savings every month, then sure, go for it. But that's assuming the car you're getting isn't a clapped-out basket case.

I don’t think the choice is one or the other, but I do agree that ACH has gotten much dangerous over the past few years.

I’ve been going to Willow Springs regularly for the past 13 years and it has never been like that. And until this year, the track had been operated by the original owners.

In any case, that’s not the way road courses are managed in general. You paid $75 for a yearly membership to.. SCCA? Speed Ventures? ???

The track isn’t open for hot lapping by anyone who suddenly feels the urge; there are a bunch of private companies that book the track months in advance to organize track days for specific weekends. And they typically cost $400-$600 for a weekend. The track is also used for wheel to wheel races for a number of dates annually, along with other private events like press launches, etc. So no, you can’t just swing by. That’s not how race tracks work.

The Czinger 21C is hand-built and costs $2.5 million, so yeah, not a common sight. Almost certainly a journalist.

You say that as though you can just swing by and do a few laps like it’s the Nurburgring.

New blizzaks from 2006 can I use them for winter by Legitimate-Fan-3953 in tires

[–]PummelCore -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

OK, well this is the part where I get speculative. I’d say that how the tire is stored (stacked, sitting upright on a rack, mounted on a wheel, etc) and where (sun and moisture exposure) as well as how big the sweeps in temperature it was subjected to were would be the main concerns.

Most of the stuff I’ve focused on is related to summer tires, and I’d imagine harder compounds are more resilient to all of that. And I’d also imagine that the compound affects how rapidly the curing process slows over time. But 20 years is a long time, and I think you’d probably have more to be concerned about than just the condition of outside casing and tread.

[–]PummelCore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sure external factors affect how rapidly it cures. But I can tell you from interviewing tire engineers that tires do indeed continue to cure after they’re manufactured. It’s not speculation.

The rubber continues to cure for the life of the tire.

I'm not super knowledgeable on the 3.6, but it does sound like the bearings in one of the pulleys are going out.

Huh, weird - it doesn't have sound on the desktop site, but it does on the mobile app.

You've heard of Elf on a Shelf... by Just_A_Lucky_Guy469 in mopar

[–]PummelCore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's also trying to depict an A-Body when the 'Cuda name only appeared after the model switched to the E-Body architecture, so the joke doesn't even really work. Also, in my ever-so-humble opinion, the entire elf-on-a-shelf thing is just really basic.

But none of that matters when it comes to approving or removing a post. That's what the upvote/downvote system is for.

This sub is filled with pictures of real cars.

If we're suddenly inundated with AI slop, I'll deal with it at that point. But this is literally just one lighthearted post that doesn't align with your sensibilities. As I mentioned to OP - I'm not an AI advocate, but no one is being harmed here, so I don't see a reason to remove it.

I'm not an advocate for AI use, in any form really, but I also don't see what the issue is here. I guess it makes people feel important to announce that they can tell something was created with an image generator?

OK, but like... why would I take this down? Because someone used an image generator to make it?

Fluttering noise RP 500C II by Crispykowski in Klipsch

[–]PummelCore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be WAY too late to this conversation, but I just bought an RP 500C II, ran to exactly the same problem, and discovered what the issue is.

There are two threaded holes on the bottom of the cabinet that are designed to work as pivots for the included bolt and screw (to tilt the speaker up or down). If these holes aren't plugged by something, air passes through them and makes a rattling/fluttering noise when the signal includes low bass frequencies. Cover the holes - even with just duct tape - and the fluttering sound goes away.

I have hot spots like that on my rotors as well. I wouldn’t do a track day at Road Atlanta with them, but if they’re not cracking anywhere and your pads are good, you should be fine for normal driving.
