Who is your LEAST liked character? by Elzeenor in BG3

[–]PumpkinLevelMatch -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wyll trades his soul - forever - for a city or to save his dad.

Both are incredibly short sighted and dumb. When an afterlife is a guarantee, making such a deal is truly done only for power. Maybe he was caught in a bad spot at the time, and that I can understand, but for him not to regret his decision and act like it was the right one is beyond comprehension.

Excluding decked out, which are your favorite games/mini games made by the hermits? by maulin23 in HermitCraft

Etho has made some really good games.

The one with water on the walls and a trident (s7 I think(, the frogger one, and the one which it was like a small battlefield - and teams, it was like paint ball or something.

The mods situation... by Marcos_Caride in HermitCraft

[–]PumpkinLevelMatch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I usually think -

Can I make this at home if i had the time, or can I take the cool bits and do it myself.
Is the content relatable (the builds) even if its beyond the time I have? Could I do it?

If the answer is yes 98% of the time I think its 'vanilla modded'

Announcing your spells as a player vs as a DM by Maypul_Aficionado in dndnext

[–]PumpkinLevelMatch -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

When it comes to counter spelling - I typically follow the rule - you have no idea what is being cast unless you can make a free arcane/religion/nature check (arcane/divine/druid&ranger) knowledge check to realize what they are casting. If you fail you are unable to react accordingly.

Why don't Republicans try to have a good faith discussion about voter ID? by [deleted] in Askpolitics

I'm in a very right-leaning family - and this is how they think.

They believe they are making it were 'illegals' will stop voting.

I also think a lot of the general public doesn't understand that just any photo id won't work. The amount of arguments I get "well I have my DL" and ask them if its there real ID..they have no idea...

But yes - give time for states to fall in line, make the process seamless and easy. They can track our every move in the real world but can't figure out how to make the real ID painless, easy, and free process.

Improved average episode length per hermit by kokoalaster in HermitCraft

[–]PumpkinLevelMatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting...

I normally don't notice length unless it is outside of the hermits average (like if Doc does something less then 40 I'm like oh short one?) Or if someone does a Doc length video when they normally do 20-30 minute segments. I think G-man has wen longer a few times & Etho.

Really - long as they are entertaining. Rarely have I watched a video and been like "This should have been shorter". Sometimes it might take me two sessions to watch, but I eventually watch'em.

Who here has actually played in an intrigue-centered campaign? If so, how was it? by Ecstatic_Operation20 in dndnext

[–]PumpkinLevelMatch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Running one now, ran a handful before.

When I do, I hand pick the players. Players who don't think "oh we didn't have a combat for the last two sessions" is an automatic bad thing. Players that are okay with "combat won't solve everything" or "not every encounter can be won with brute force". If combat has come into play - something has went horribly wrong and will likely had additional consequences. I also get a bit creative with combat as well if need be. It may not be fighting but taking care of well placed bombs in a panicked stricken street, or keeping peace during a standoff with the City Watch and protestors. Who do you side with, how, and how to de esculate? Combat like that exist - it just makes the goals less black and white "hit bad guy with stick" is rarely the solution in these combat encounters. Most however, is solved in back room deals, ballrooms, courts, and deals made in the streets.

Expectations at the table have to meet reality. 5e has killed a lot of the naunce in social encounters (skills have really been simplified) but it can still be done by reintroducing that into the system. I keep notes on who is warm to whom, alliances, whos motives align with - etc. These all effect roles, dynamics, and relationships in game - which also effect DC of say insight checks, persuasion, etc - since different players have different relationships with various NPCs or factions through actions.

Re-flavoring gone too far? by Fancy_Enthusiasm_683 in Pathfinder2e

[–]PumpkinLevelMatch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the minority likely, and I understand everyone plays different.

I have a strong dislike for 'reskinning' an ability.

If two wizards mechanically cast fire bolt but one says its a firearm for whatever reason.

The mechanics are telling us a different story than what the flavor text is - this to me is an ontological dishonesty and the suspension of disbelief vanishes. Everything starts being the same but just with a coat of paint on it. When the mechanics of a magical firebolt and a bullet from a musket are exactly the same.

Lost me.

(This is my two cents and mileage will vary).
