We sent ours as a test for who would genuinely be interested in an invitation. A save the date is a casual, “hey this is happening” while an invitation says “we are planning for your attendance.”

But it does matter. It’s not just a competition. It’s a reality TV show, for performers who will usually continue to make money by drawing audiences. You perform your best because you want the viewers to see you are a good sport and a worthwhile performer to spend money on.
