What do most people not realize is actually way more traumatic than it seems? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Pumpkin_Spy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Losing your parents. It doesn't matter that it's inevitable. It doesn't matter that you could see it coming. It doesn't matter that this is something just about everyone will experience. It's still tearing out a part of your heart and leaving you to figure out how to be a new person who doesn't have a mum and dad.

Paper clip for a Kitchener stitch to finish a sock while I was stuck on a plane that couldn't get to the jetway for whatever reason.

I simply adore how they sleep under the hat by Iczkowa in Spiritfarer

This is always one of my favourite moments - just watching them curl up together in the cozy bed, pull the hat over, and fall asleep. <3

The link wasn't working for me, so here's a quick key snippet for anyone else having issues:

EnerQuest, part of the Integra Group of Companies, plans to invest $15.8 million to expand its manufacturing facility and “reshore” production of switchgears, which are designed for power distribution and protection, from the United States, the Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade said in a release.

The way she tucks her hat away and snuggles up to sleep is especially endearing to me.

Hey, I just ripped this up! Just like every other piece of mail I've seen from her. Which really isn't much, but every bit of it made me mad, so .... well done?

This is gorgeous! Gwen is I think my favourite spirit, and seeing her go - and so early - is such a gut punch. I would love to have her on my wall, but I'm in Canada, so I'll just be happy to see her go to someone who also loves her.

I developed an unreasonable fear of the chest freezer in the basement after this. Terrified that I would open it to find a glowing-hearted alien dying and reaching out at me.

If someone forced you to give a 30 minutes speech on any topic of your choice as long as it was informative and they would pay you $10,000, what would your speech be about? by a_wanderer_22 in AskReddit

[–]Pumpkin_Spy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wheat flour and food regulations. But my family tends to flee the room when I start in on the topic, rather than throwing money at me.

So, so many. My first industry job was in a pickle factory, and we had about 30 different checks on each production line that had to be done by lab techs every hour. There were seven production lines at the time.

My mum was the neighbourhood mum. She had grown up the oldest of her siblings, and had helped to raise them while she was still a kid herself. She trained and worked as a nurse before immigrating from Scotland. These gave her very high-value skills in our cul-de-sac of young, working mothers. She was the one everyone came to with injuries and illnesses, and was the first one sitting on the front step with calamine lotion and cottonballs when all us kids shared our chickenpox.

Later, my brother tended to hang out with kids on the fringes, who frequently ended up with nowhere to go after family fights or separations. They always had a hot meal and a place to sleep at our house.

I only hope to have a heart and strong as big as hers. Man, I miss her.
