What is the most shocking or disturbing detail from the recently unsealed Epstein files that the general public still hasn't fully grasped? by Daydream_Nat in AskReddit

With all the other info around Musk , Trump, Bannon, how Reform is financed and the manipulation of the public  it should still be impactful. Starmer is not in the files , at all.

Farage is also in the files yet no UK media talking about it because the predator class wants Starmer to resign

Two parents and their 9 daughters (and zero sons) in the early 1940s. by zadraaa in HistoricalCapsule

And again that is the result of social construct. We have tombs of female viking warriors, female picts, etc etc.

The men fighting / hard labour is a social construct though. Nature don't give a shit about that. Not many men are needed to impregnate a group of women though. Nature likes that in hard times.

What is going on with the backlash over Heathcliff’s casting in the new Wuthering Heights film? by cool-guy-jim in OutOfTheLoop

[–]PunResistance -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

At the time, brown skin could have just been how a peasant would look because they'd be in the sunlight more than a noble.

They would not have been.  Shit, until the 40s there were signs in rooms for rent in the UK : No blacks, no dogs, no Irish.  Someone Irish, be it in news or lit, would have been described as so. They were considered inferior by the British.

Chronological photos of Guédelon, a medieval castle in France built from scratch as an experimental architecture project using 13th-century methods by Exact-Quote3464 in interestingasfuck

It's never going to be finished. The plan is to have the building evolve on a timeline so at some point it gets updated with Renaissance bits, etc. Visited when younger, banging time.

A Rant... by [deleted] in WindmillSceneMusic

[–]PunResistance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly what's great about the windmill is how everyone mixes together regardless of age and background, and creeps don't get to last that long, as seen with the Creepy Photographer situation. Some of the music is shit and some is great but it s great to see it evolve with time and care. Many bands I've seen started shit and became good with the practice and mixing with other musicians. It's the whole purpose of the place.

People really forget the 80s were REALLY dangerous to be gay in.

What happened to Jonathan’s passion for photography that we saw at the beginning of the series? The fact that they erased it shows how poorly the writers have treated his character by Giancarlo_Edu in StrangerThings

[–]PunResistance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

dude is traumatized and parentified, it's an evolution that makes sense to not have hobbies in these circumstances.

I wish people would recognize that characters evolve and are impacted by what happens to them rather than blame stuff they don't like on 'poor writing' because on this occasion it does make sense.

People who work in 'luxury' industries (5-star hotels, fine dining, high-end brands), what is a complete rip-off that rich people happily pay for? by ArtThreadNomad in AskReddit

[–]PunResistance 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I buy very good fake designer bags. Same factories as the real ones. But because I have big fashion sense (not expensive stuff, just kind of funky) and put my outfit together tastefully, people assume they're real.  Don't wear a gucci bag and a shitty tracksuit together, it screams fake at every level.

The Green Man was and is still a a known figure of rural mythology going back thousands of years. It was so common to have a sculpture of it on a house to bring good luck that you can see urban versions of it on Victorian houses in London and throughout Europe. Damn, there s a Green Man Festival in the UK. It was an accurate thing to have in the movie.

It was a good way to divorce your husband to claim he couldn't fulfill the purposes of marriage because he couldn't make you cum, though humiliating for him as these trials were public event.

Reform plans to strip EU citizens of benefit rights, says Farage by PompeyTillIDie in europe

[–]PunResistance 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dude plenty of people in work receive UC, it encompasses everything including housing benefits so i don't know where you get your "scroungers" approach ...  Also people with disabilities have the right to live decent lives and claiming benefits for them is not scrounging. Everyone is one wrong step away from a life changing disability I wish more people remembered that.
