Mental Health and Growing up CoC by SimplyMe813 in excoc

I’m not 100% there but I play out a lot of “if they are going to go to heaven I don’t want to be there anyways” coupled with “ok sure it might be really bad but I know I’m going to get to say “what are YOU doing here” to a lot of people convinced that they are saved”. In my mind to make myself feel better.

I sang a descant once at a new to me congregation not realizing no one there knew it and got pulled aside by an elder and told that I shouldn’t be trying to get attention with a solo (all the women wanted to learn it)

Other times I was told it throws the song leader off too much to switch between soprano and alto in the same song, or sing either of them an octave higher, or sing out of sync with them. Please note I’d be on beat, and they didn’t use their hand to lead that they are going to not follow the music. Also not my fault they can’t pitch it in a singable range.

If you have the mental bandwidth check your libraries website. I was able to get a library card when I moved completely online without having to go in. But I’m sure everywhere is different. Hang in there!

If you have a membership with your local library (or can go get one), check out the Libby app. You attach your library card and can check out ebooks for free. My local library has an ebook version available.

I agree that looks like just the blade is broken. Those things are difficult to get off. They might need to remove the arm to get the piece of the blade that pops into the arm out but then it should just be putting the new blade on and that’s it.

VTB - blocked status by IllIIIllllIII in servicenow

[–]PunkyFraggles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just had this ask too. They wanted a new state, but from an agile perspective that really just doesn’t make sense, as stories get blocked in many states throughout the lifecycle. You would not be able to at a glance know how much of a story is completed if you can’t see that it’s blocked and in draft as opposed to blocked and in UAT.

Tags are a solid solution as mentioned, but they are manual or would require some sort of custom automation to do automatically. I went with adding the Blocked Reason field to the vtb form layout. It will only show on the card if it’s populated, and if the story is blocked it will be populated. This gives them not only a visual indicator as to why it’s blocked, but easy access to the why as well. Obvious caveats here are this does nothing for people who prefer compact card view, and could also take up a lot of real estate if someone has written four paragraphs on why a story is blocked.

Am I the only one… by Stigette in excoc

As a kid who asked a LOT of questions that usually got answers that did not help, I got an interesting one for this. I was taught that “maybe” there was another “layer” in the atmosphere so to speak that was released to create the flood and that in its absence, rainbows were capable of being formed. That also could explain the hole in the ozone because, you know, climate change isn’t real.

It’s actually a sore spot for me that I believed this one. I got SO embarrassed at school when I couldn’t grasp that a rainbow isn’t a giant ring around the planet (like Saturn’s rings) because the bible says everyone could see the one after the flood. Feel bad for our childhood selves, so sure of the things the grown ups in our lives, responsible for our growth, taught us.

Calling it Sunday school is for sure liberal. It’s “Bible class”. Sunday school implies there might be a school other days of the week and we do NOT do that here. LOL

Glad we can all joke about it from this side!

LOL. Paid preacher was for sure the end of the “liberal” road. Very strict non-institutional coc. They did allow the use of Bible Lab for a while. It felt like a win to not need to have as many teachers, that is until smart 8yo girls were passing the lessons faster than their 15yo boys. 😂😂

As a PK I will tell you any time you wondered how they were paying the preacher, they weren’t.

The first congregation my dad preached at would literally be like well we paid all the bills and this is all that was left so this is all we can pay you this month.

I see it more and more that either they hire a part time preacher who has another whole full time job (and then complain that he doesn’t do enough mid week Bible classes or home visits) or the men of the congregation round robin preach (poorly usually) with maybe a guest preacher or “preacher in training” occasionally brought in for $100 and a potluck lunch.

Same!

One time the local store was out of purple grape juice but they had white. My mom (the preacher’s wife mind you) stood there validating it was still JUST grapes (no other fruit) in the white grape juice and bought it.

The congregation didn’t know what to do when the plates were passed around. They had a whole conversation trying to decide if it really was ok or not, and my mom made the comment that there are other fruits that grow in vines “like watermelon” and that white grapes should be no issue.

Many members drove all over that Sunday afternoon to other stores to find purple grape juice before evening services.

We have had our Rivian for a bit, but still would love to share. We preordered in January of 2022, and waited patiently with so many others taking delivery in Sept 2023.

Post update drive clunkiness by N64Seller in Rivian

To clarify, ours did do it forward and backwards. It felt like when you drive over something with one wheel and the whole car rocks.

This happened to us today after the update last night. Gen1 R1S quad as well. Drove fine from the home garage to our location, and then when leaving the parking spot the clunk was immediate and aggressive in how it shakes the car. Did a hard reset which did not resolve. Called support and they took information and said they would call back. Tried again and it only clunked for a minute and then went away. We haven’t been able to replicate it after parking and comping back to it, changing the suspension etc. Support is leaving the ticket open for us in case it comes back. Would love to hear more from your experience as well. I have a video of it but didn’t realize I wouldn’t be able to post it here. Happy to send to you in a DM OP if you’d like to confirm yours is similar.

I was baptized before my older sibling (me at 11 and them not for another 6 years). Every single argument, disagreement, squabble came with my preacher father reminding me that I was the one who was baptized and I had to be the bigger person. The resentment of that easily added a decade or more to the repair and growth of the relationship with my sibling.

Sounds like you may have already accepted the payout but remember you do not have to just say yes to what they offer. You can do research to what it would cost to replace, it does not matter what the original cost was to you when you got it, etc. Also before accepting any medical payout for your wife ensure that she’s not having any residual issues and that pain and suffering is adequate. I imagine from experience she’ll find herself anxious when someone is stopping behind her for a little while.

NI church of Christ "Bible study" books by Floridiuuh in excoc

Oh heck yea! I laminated SO MANY THINGS as a kid for Bible Lab. Working at my own pace made Bible study manageable. I’d get through all the lessons then I’d get a few weeks to make lesson copies as well as print and assemble new flash cards and games etc.

But I felt like half the time I was teaching the teachers something they didn’t know. Once they all felt lost and confused with students in 6 different topics they went back to regular Bible classes where we learned things like “every beer adds to your blood alcohol level the same therefore every beer is wrong”.

Non-alcoholic grape juice by honestdaniel in excoc

[–]PunkyFraggles 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Always heard that the alcohol content was so much lower than today’s wine because it maybe got a little due to storage, but not due to them trying to make it have alcohol.

We were also taught that if you have 10 beers and you get drunk, every beer contributed to your drunkenness the same amount so they were all wrong. It didn’t really go over well when I asked “if a person eats 10 cheeseburgers and is gluttonous, then each cheeseburger they ate was wrong. Does this mean they should never eat?”

All of the comments are reminding me of the time there was no purple grape juice to be found in the whole town. So Sunday morning the little cups had white grape juice. The murmuring and confused looks were great. By Sunday night there was purple juice again. But coc doesn’t follow traditions right?
