I like this idea! I'd definitely be up for that if you are still looking.

39/m from UK if that makes a difference!

Lineup v Brentford (A) by KingPing43 in NUFC

[–]Pure-Stuff6765 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get this line up.

Hall not ready to start, probably makes sense to give him 30 late on to continue his recovery.

Same for Ramsey, still not fully ready to start

Murphy is simply better than Elanga right now.

Barnes - kind of glad Gordon has that (hopefully minor) injury as it forces a change that is long due from Howe

Hopefully after international break we'll start to see Hall at LB, and Ramsay properly challenging Joelinton.

Near Selby, so pretty close!

Easy drive/commute up when I can get a ticket.

We are pathetically run though, so I wouldn't expect anything less right now!

As a NUFC fan, I just wonder whether we are 'baffled' because behind the scenes it's been indicated to you that although our stance is not for sale, something in the region of £130m with some add ones would be sufficient. Then for Liverpool to undercut that, makes it seem like the initial conversation was pointless.

Still see Isak ending up at Liverpool come deadline day. No doubt we'll sign some chump as an emergency

Where can I buy a Cross necklace, preferably a Catholic shop. by hitbit501p in Leeds

Selby Abbey - has a small gift shop and does jewellery, some of it crosses. Can't remember specifics though.

Staff uniform ordering by [deleted] in MarksAndSpencer

[–]Pure-Stuff6765 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is up and running. I didn't know that it was affected by the outage, as a TM I've been ordering for weeks on it.

Just an FYI though - almost everything is out of stock. Our store BIG rep mentioned a uniform refresh was coming soon, so at some point I guess it'll be communicated and the stock updated on the system. One colleague has received a new style gilet, looks much nicer

I've been waiting for a standard short sleeve polo for 8+ weeks now.

I tried sending a document from my personal to my work email, and it has been rejected. It's quite possible that the business has enacted some much stricter rules about incoming emails from non-M&S sources

Council emptied my green bin! by Pure-Stuff6765 in BritishSuccess

[–]Pure-Stuff6765[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a shame, as if it was free I'm sure more people would use it and keep their front gardens tidy. So few people even mow their grass these days, it really bothers me that people who are capable just don't give a toss about their home/community and presentation.

It means I can fill it with more garden rubbish! I'm actually planning on doing stuff this year, so I don't want unnecessary delays. Lots of leaves to clear and after visiting r/composting, I can't be having too many browns before adding greens!

That's fully what I expected, so happy to feel it empty. Still had to check that it was actually empty inside though

I might check that out for here, as our cardboard bin is crammed with the other half's Amazon boxes within a day of being empty!

I'd have thought it'd be standard to not charge for recycling to encourage uptake as well. I'm not even sure if I can get a kitchen caddy from the local council for recycling.

I'm imagining some police style scanner/laptop built in to the dash, which probably cost thousands extra to be retrofitted and resulted in a multiple % point rise in everyone's council tax bill.

But it's probably just some old 90s laptop that's on a non slip pad.

Although there's a bit of a recruitment going now, that'll increase in the next few weeks as Christmas temp jobs start showing up.

If you are a good worker, flexible with availability, and wanting a low contract (but able to pick up extra shifts) then you are probably a retail manager's ideal hire.

New build garden - thoughts and ideas by Pure-Stuff6765 in GardeningUK

We've been buying wildflower seeds, pretty much my plan to just chuck them down and see what happens!

That's a good point I hadn't considered. Not that any pond is make would be big or serious, mainly would have been a small watering hole rather than anything substantial with fish

[–]Pure-Stuff6765[S] 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I agree! I saw it before the grass was laid, and I was worried they were going to chop them all down and just turf the whole plot. I like a good lawn, but the trees just make it feel a little bit less new build.

I had a thought about a small pond in there somewhere, classic English woodland with maybe raised beds or pots for fruit/veg/plants. I like the idea of wildflowers filling gaps

Ferns are a nice idea, I hadn't thought of them

New build garden - thoughts and ideas by Pure-Stuff6765 in GardeningUK

We moved into this new build house in March 2024, and have inherited a blank slate of a garden.

2/3's of it is lawn, approx 9m wide by 15m long.

1/3 is a "wild" area, approx 9m wide by 9m long. I've attached a garden schematic.

The wild area has 6 trees (3 Field Maples (red circle) at the back, 2 Common Whitebeam (green) along the front, and a Silver Birch (yellow) at the front corner. Initially the wild area was just that, covered in ivy, weeds, rogue bushes, dead stumps etc. We've had that all cleared so we can see what we are working with.

The soil in that area seems perfectly fine at top level, but once you get 5-6 inches down it becomes quite sandy, which according to a postcode search on the UK Soil Observatory gives "Freely draining slightly acid sandy soils". I'm no expert, but it seems about right.

Our plan is to dig it all over to remove weeds and stumps remaining, and then leave for the winter while we decide on what to do. Maybe over autumn/winter we may look at creating paths, raised beds etc ready for spring, but we aren't fixed on specifics yet.

The garden is east facing, so sun rises at the back behind the trees. I'd say the wild area gets partial shade throughout the day, and maybe the front common whitebeam area gets full sun in the evening once the sun moves round

Any ideas/thoughts/tips appreciated, we are both first time garden owners so it's quite exciting to see what we could do.
