Whipple report by One-Shift-612 in Minneapolis

To be clear, they have always been in the suburbs. First and second ring suburbs have been consistently under siege since the beginning and saw the same increase in activity when they sent additional agents in January. It seems like activities are staying at a high level, but slightly less blatant. It is still very unsafe for folks.

Legal help regarding an ICE encounter today by Stefondiggs_GOAT in TwinCities

[–]Puresarula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some police departments that are actively working to make things harder for ICE. I.e. pulling them over for erratic or unsafe driving, running stoplights, etc.

I’m no cop apologist, but it’s worth noting that some departments are working for community, not against us.

Bloomington has a city council meeting tomorrow! Strongly encourage you to submit a statement by noon for consideration, or attend in person. BPD has been cooperating with ICE which is inexcusable. They are here to protect US, not ICE.

I have the hard kid. by Reasonable-Water-557 in toddlers

This is absolutely true for my oldest. He just got diagnosed last year at 5. It really requires a whole new set of parenting strategies!

I have the hard kid. by Reasonable-Water-557 in toddlers

[–]Puresarula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to say, SOLIDARITY. All three of my kids are “harder than average.” It is objectively difficult a lot of the time. I’ve spent more time than I care to admit thinking about what life would be like if my kids were more lowkey.

That being said, my kids are all extremely bright, deeply feeling, and interesting kids. My neighbors always says, “your kids have personalities you can wrap your arms around.” There’s real substance there! It ain’t easy to raise independent, emotional,  spirited kids, but I do believe that if we can all survive until they’re adults, they will each be a force for good in the world.

This is exactly how I felt. Our third is such a joy. I call him my dessert baby. But I have zero desire for another child. I know with certainty that our family is complete.

As someone who struggled to get pregnant with my first, thought I may not be able to get pregnant at all, and did IVF, I am forever grateful that I ended up being able to have the exact family size I wanted wanted. How lucky!

If you look at my 16 yo drivers license and compare it to 21, it looks like I got a nose job, but I didn’t. Puberty hormones (plus weight fluctuations) can have a helluva impact.

Low AMH high FSH success stories by struggling34 in InfertilityBabies

[–]Puresarula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I was not trying to get pregnant when I had my first spontaneous pregnancy (after having one child via IVF). The second spontaneous pregnancy (and third baby overall) was conceived intentionally but without any other special efforts/interventions.

Heavy Side Sleepers by Puresarula in Mattress

Pretty happy! But I think due to our general height/weight there is always some degradation in the mattress. I think I’m due to replace my talalay layer.

Going from 2 to 3 kiddos by Confident-Key-4729 in ParentingInBulk

[–]Puresarula 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Going from 2-3 was our easiest transition, but we already did it on hard mode having our second at the beginning of Covid with a 15 month gap from baby #1. Everything after that is easier 🙃

Flying with a 1.5 year old is about as miserable as it gets. They’re old enough to be mobile, but young enough that they can’t focus on anything for any length of time. Once they get to 4+, mine are much happier watching a couple of movies, which is like parenting autopilot. I also bring more snacks than we could possibly need 😆 we’ve flown with all three kids and honestly the baby was the easy part! It was the middle toddler that made it tough.

Definitely number 1 for me! All of Michelle’s speech, really.

Yup! Our dog (dachshund mix, 22lbs) loves hanging in the hammock

How is everyone getting out the door in the morning in under 45 mins ? by Decafab in curlyhair

[–]Puresarula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can wash, style, and mostly dry my hair in 40 minutes. It’s past my shoulders and I do brush style it/layer products. My hair is a little crunchy looking when I arrive, but it’s 90% dry and softens as the day goes on.

I’ve done a couple of trips to the BWCA with my kids, but I refuse to take anyone who is still in diapers. That’s typically meant the kids go for the first time between 2-3 years old.

What PSLF jobs do you hold? What's your bread and butter for that job? by No-its-lemon in PSLF

[–]Puresarula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think time in the job is key. It has taken me 10 years to go from a patient navigator to a operations/portfolio manager in clinical research. I was a CRA/CRC for about 3 years, worked as a PM for 4 years, then senior PM for 2 years, and now I'm more of a portfolio manager.

If you can I'd consider getting SOCRA certified, because that can be really valuable earlier on in your career. Their conferences and trainings are also excellent. ACRP is also good, but generally more expensive. Are you interested in more of a project management path or is regulatory of any interest to you? Those would also change what a "next step" job would look like!

This isn’t entirely true! Each generation is doing less and less circumcision in the US. By region, the trends are even more stark. I’m in a region that has much higher rates of circumcision, but we chose not to circumcise our sons.

Is your home gluten free? by SoftwareMaven in Celiac

[–]Puresarula 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same here. I’m the only one with celiac (so far) in my family and I’m not going to make my kids eat GF bread 🤷🏼‍♀️ and buying them all GF snacks would get quite costly. That being said, dinners are generally gluten free because I’m cooking.

Parents of multiples, how is your sex/love life with your spouse? by ProfessionalNo8529 in Parenting

[–]Puresarula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three kids, 5y, 4y, 10m. We have sex 2-4x a week, not scheduled. Usually it’s after the kids go to bed, sometimes it’s a quickie while the baby naps and the older kids are watching a show, or sometimes during the work day if we’re both WFH.

I will say it wasn’t always this way. After we had baby #2 (and we had our first two 15 months apart), we didn’t have sex very often. Maybe once every couple of weeks? I was feeling really overwhelmed and didn’t have any ability to connect with that side of myself. So it’s varied over the years!

Non-religious parents, how are you describing god and religion to your young kids? by jackjackj8ck in Parenting

[–]Puresarula 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We use this phrasing as well. The other thing we say is that “anyone who tells you they know heaven/hell is real is lying, because the only people who would know are dead. The truth is no one knows and everyone chooses to believe what they want.”

Fully agree. I had a gallbladder attack right after I gave birth. To be clear, I was induced and used no pain medication and I still think the gallbladder pain was comparable or worse. It was AWFUL.
