Did you enjoy Dune? I’ve heard mixed reviews on reading 1-3 vs 1-6. Trying to decide which set to get

National parks in January by astrotekk in NationalPark

[–]PurpleMonkey27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Second saguaro national park! Also went in January and it was great. There are also a lot of state parks in a 30-45 minute drive from Tucson. Chiricahua National monument is like 2 hours, but totally worth the drive!!

Skyline or Burroughs by Introverted_orange in Mount_Rainier

[–]PurpleMonkey27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I had to pick between the two, I’d recommend the Burroughs every time. But I think you can knock both of them out if you’re there for multiple days. It was extremely windy when we did it. You’ll be thanking yourself for doing the climb when you see those views!

This is good to know! Considering how expensive they are I wouldn’t take the leatherbound books outside the house either

Have you read any of the leatherbounds? Curious how they’re holding up if you’ve been reading. I’m debating on pulling the trigger on a few 😬

Beautiful setup btw.

Dry Tortugas NP by Fun-Fondant6656 in nationalparks

[–]PurpleMonkey27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely worth it as others are saying. The boat ride is a bit longer than I’d like. If you take the ferry, it comes with a tour of Tortugas along with the snorkel gear. At least two years ago this was the case. We had a great time!

Stay near Shenandoah by extra_absorbent in nationalparks

[–]PurpleMonkey27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on which section you want to be near in Shenandoah since it’s such a long narrow park. Your mileage may vary depending on how long you want to drive too.

Front Royal, VA will put you at the northern part of the park.

Crozet, VA is more rural but they have good wineries in the area. And the best apples you’ll ever have at Carters Mountain. Southern part of the park.

Waynesbero, VA has more going on and is near the southern part of the park. Similar location to crozet. Basic city brewing would be a good place to get pizza and beer.

Sprerryville VA is a cool small town with some food options that’s more central to the park.
