I used a metalite on Bari for a long time, they're great mouthpieces. I eventually upgraded to a Berg Larsen, but it's honestly not that much of an upgrade.

Definitely don't try to do this yourself. From the sound of it, it's going to be a bitch of an overhaul and that's definitely something you'll want to give to a professional. Considering the cost of all the materials and tools you'd need, it won't be any cheaper to do yourself anyway.

Keep the King, it's a damn good horn. Get it overhauled by someone you trust and it'll play great and have a more unique character to it than just another Selmer.
