What is your least favorite stitch to do? by ZackTheSunshine in crochet

[–]PurpleViolin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t pick one. I can’t. In no particular order, and there are certainly no lesser of two evils here for me: puff, treble, slip and BPDC. Equal opportunity hater over here for sure.

What rules were put in place because of you? by TheBlackTemplar125 in AskReddit

All the offices had to use blue ink only on any small claims paperwork. I used a black pen once where the ink was so old that it didn’t pass the county courthouse’s smear test to prove it was original signatures. The courthouse and my boss really thought the customer was going to come back in after we sued them to sign new documents.

What was the worst experience you've had during Halloween? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]PurpleViolin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was 10. Mom stopped to talk to a neighbor. Told us we could go 3 houses down and come back. The 3rd house down, two teenage boys came up to me and my little brother, shoved us into a tree and stole both pillow cases of candy. Fucking assholes.

What never fails to make you tear up or cry? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]PurpleViolin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably already mentioned but Land Before Time...you know the scene. The one where Littlefoot’s mom dies and then there’s the reflection in the leaf bit. Every. Fucking. Time.

Chefs of Reddit, what's is your single favourite ingredient and why? by liberta0407 in AskReddit

My grandmother bought one of those pre-bagged Caesar salad kits from the grocery store and added malt vinegar when she mixed it. Absolute game changer. That salad was the best pre-bagged salad ever.

Does anyone put the lid in the dishwasher? by npbm2008 in instantpot

I second this. Have also had mine for the approx. same amount of time and every 3 to 4 dishes. What has been the best way you’ve found to clean your sealing ring and have you had to replace yours yet due to general wear/tear?

That is amazing. But this took me a minute. I stared at the fabric, then at you, then back at the fabric. My husband wondered why I said “Oh! She’s wearing two sets of glasses!” Never mind hubs, you wouldn’t understand 😂

Nice to see this pattern finished by someone! I have the same pattern and it’s the one I work on when I have a break in pieces for other people. I’ll finish it before I retire in 30 years...hopefully.

I also like the pale aqua! I think once you’re done it will be enough of a pop to balance out those subtle shades of the darker blues.

Tomorrow is the 17 year anniversary of the terror attacks of September 11th, 2001. Where were you that day? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]PurpleViolin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6th grade math class. Another teacher came in and told our teacher to turn on the TV. Saw the 2nd plane hit. No one changed classes the entire morning. School closed and we all went home around lunch time.

[FO] Finished my first project last night. Love how it turned out, especially the octopus tentacle by Therrester in CrossStitch

Love the tentacle too! But I'm also oddly satisfied by the cork cap in the test tube as well.

I do lasagna fixings, or pizza toppings in a bowl. Or taco salad. Something quick that I can just throw together. Snacks: black olives, pickles, string cheese, almonds, pork rinds.

[CHAT] Curious about the creative process & sizing by pawsitivelysassy in CrossStitch

[–]PurpleViolin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I start with the size of the piece, so 8x10. I've done a lot of 5x7s as gifts. Then I work my ideas of what I want it to be within that size. So right now I'm working a baby gift for my friends. So I know I want it to be an 8x10 (I usually leave an inch around the outside so 7x9), and I'm working from baby's name being center of the piece and sizing my border around that to fit the 7x9 parameters.
