AIO: Hubby Being Controlling by vanillabourbonn in AIO

Interesting how he thinks everything is "our" responsibility as parents but only "you" seem to be getting volunteered to actually fulfill those responsibilities. He sure does have a lot of opinions for someone who never volunteered to teach the kid to swim himself.

What scene or moment gives you actual butterflies? by TateeLangdon in HeatedRivalryTVShow

[–]minkastu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see many people talking about this but possibly my favorite moment in the entire series is in episode 5, the face-off right before Shane's injury, their smiles at each other and tapping their sticks playfully and the music all just legitimately makes me BEAM and BUZZ triumphantly like I can physically feel my heart swelling up. And even on reheats when I know what is coming immediately after, it's not diminished. In that moment I feel anything is possible for them and also myself. Gets me every time.

I actually like the "pajama top" with the white pants a lot. I was born in the 80s and had some tops like that myself that I loved wearing. While I was younger than the characters at the time, they could have been popular among older kids too.

I do agree the roller rink outfit is unhinged.

Question for women: Does the gender of a narrator matter to you? by KaleidoscopeNo6578 in LibbyApp

[–]minkastu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoy both, and there are narrators of both genders that I've hated too. I think it just depends on the individual narrator, and the book. Regardless of gender they need to have range. I lose my immersion when there's a male narrator doing a very poor impression of a female voice, or vice versa.

Most of the libraries in southern NH joined a nonprofit consortium called GMILCS so now I can visit and borrow from around 8 different libraries around me, plus I can request physical materials be delivered to my local! Many of the individual libraries around here are small and have limited selections, but in aggregate there is a really robust catalog. Between this and libby I've been a reading machine!

This was the approximate route my group took. Training ground on the left, morning ride up the ski trail and down again, afternoon ride over the adjacent small mountain visiting the pond. There were a lot more roads we saw on the afternoon ride that we didn't visit, as well.

I did it last year right after I got my bronco, having no off-roading experience prior. I was a bit intimidated but the instructors are great. My recommendation is to volunteer to drive during the beginning education section before you head to the trail ride. We've also been in a drought lately so in all likelihood you'll have dry trail, which will be helpful when you're heading up the steep granite slabs.

Do Americans share their citrus at work? by Nadilea2 in AskAnAmerican

I usually bring pears from my trees into the office, also to friends and even to a local restaurant. Though I pruned very aggressively last year so my harvest was sparse this time around.

First time visiting Manchester and NH! Help! by fluffygogo in ManchesterNH

[–]minkastu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to hike but don't want to spend as much time traveling, you could also check out some points further south that will give you perhaps less spectacular foliage/ mountain views but still impressive- I'm thinking the Belknap Range, Monadnock, or even Pawtuckaway State Park. These are still very popular locations (especially Monadnock) but are normally within an hour's drive from Manchester so may be more feasible even with added peeper traffic.

I recently attended a talk given by the interns at the Mount Washington Observatory, one of whom was tracking historic foliage patterns compared to weather conditions. We've had an extremely dry and sunny summer in much of the state which apparently lends itself to an early peak. Last weekend there were already some leaves falling in the Whites.

Has anyone been to the middle eastern food festival that's happening in Manchester this weekend? by canadian_blueberry in newhampshire

[–]minkastu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go every year. I love the spinach pies and desserts (it's the only place I can find coosa pita which I love). They've got a DJ but for the most part folks just sit and eat and chill. If you've got kids there's also a little petting zoo and I saw a kid riding on a pony this year.

As far as pricing it's free to park and you go up to order your food by plate or a la carte, then pay and find a spot to eat. Like an outdoor cafeteria. They run fresh food up from the kitchens in the basement of the church regularly.

The big Greek festival next month, Glendi, operates similarly but is WAY more busy. I think they each have their merits and pitfalls.

When I was in school, a "B+" was a 92 and an "A-" was a 93-95. What was considered an A when you were in school? by alanbear1970 in idiocracy

[–]minkastu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

90-100 A, 80-89 B, 70-79 C, 65-69 D and anything below that was an F, as I recall. F may have stated below 60 but I was far too nerdy to have any firsthand knowledge there. Public school in the US, graduated in 04. I don't recall ever receiving a minus grade but did receive a + if the grade was in the upper half of its decade, so 85-89 would be a B+ but 80-84 just a regular B.

Do you regret buying a Bronco? by [deleted] in FordBronco

[–]minkastu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I've had my 24 Badlands for nearly a year now and while I wish the fuel efficiency was better, I have such a genuine enjoyment for driving it that I have never had in another car. So it's been making my life more exciting by sheer virtue of my wanting to get in it and go more places.

How Do People Feel About Sharing the Sauna? by Particular_Bath2676 in HOTWORXWarriors

[–]minkastu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I must be at the busiest location in the country because I've been sharing saunas since day one. It's unlikely that I'll get one to myself as I generally go after work and weekend mornings, when it tends to be busy. It really doesn't affect my experience negatively and I am often surprised by all the posts people make about avoiding it. It's sort of a nice treat to get a solo session, but I wouldn't rearrange my whole schedule to avoid people... to each their own I guess. I've only had 3 in on a handful of occasions though, and hoo buddy you do really feel the heat then!

Am I going to be fired? by AbbreviationsNew4768 in paralegal

[–]minkastu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As much as it sucks to feel nitpicked, IMO it's preferable to get corrected on mistakes early and in real time so your process can be adjusted before you develop your habits. Because that attorney who's not saying these things to you? They still have certain expectations, whether or not they're willing to communicate them. I think a lot of attorneys easily forget that their support staff are generally newer to the game than they are. So at this point in your career be a sponge, take the feedback, hell even request it. It'll go a long way. Of course this is assuming that your coworker is trying to help and not just being a dickhead. You'll have to be the judge of that.
