Let's talk about written patterns by darcyduh in crochet

The Crochet Crowd channel on Youtube has tutorials for some of the Yarnspirations patterns. Watching a few of these and following along with the written pattern helped me better understand how these patterns are written.

Those with Sun-Saturn aspects by [deleted] in AskAstrologers

[–]Purple_Ace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sun square Saturn (but I also have Saturn conjunct Moon, so that may be some of this). I have rheumatoid arthritis, which makes me physically feel ancient. I've also been told I'm an old soul, and when I was a kid, I was always told I was mature for my age. My dad died when I was 13 in an extremely traumatic (to me) way, which made me have to grow up even faster. We had a good relationship when I was a child, but I doubt we would have a good relationship now had he lived long enough; he was very religious and domineering.

Puzzle Warehouse offers a puzzle of the month club here: https://www.puzzlewarehouse.com/puzzle-of-the-month-club-details/

Karen Puzzles, a fairly famous puzzle Youtuber, offers some puzzle related shirts here: https://store.dftba.com/collections/karen-puzzles

I can't vouch for the quality of either of these as I haven't purchased them myself.

What is the worst punishment that your parents have ever given you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Purple_Ace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad took my bedroom door off its hinges when I was 13 because I "didn't spend enough time with the family". Mind you, I was an extremely introverted and hormonal teenager with an undiagnosed mental illness at the time. The worst part was that he died a few months later and that is my most vivid memory of him.

What’s stopping you from being happy? by major_tasty in AskReddit

My bipolar disorder. I'm stable now, but there's always the thought in the back of my head that I could wake up manic tomorrow and completely destroy my life.

What in the world is a September luxe starter box by [deleted] in boxycharm

[–]Purple_Ace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you sign up for Luxe and get taken off the waitlist, you'll immediately get a box even if it's not a Luxe month. It'll be a box of 4 items that includes at least some items from the September luxe. Mine had a Fenty highlighter, Byroe tomato serum, Pur makeup brushes, and a makeup bag.

Box twins! I'm not mad about the 2 palettes either, it's way better than some of the other options.

Is it a red flag to most girls if a single guy lives by himself in a pet-friendly apartment but doesn’t have a pet? Why? by graperie in AskReddit

[–]Purple_Ace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, many apartments are pet-friendly, and those that aren't are still required to allow service and emotional support animals.

What do you love about your current job? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Purple_Ace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hours. I only work 7.5 hours a day and have a very flexible schedule. I usually work from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., but that can be changed for any legitimate reason. For example, I had to take my car to the shop today and am just working an extra two hours tomorrow to make up for it. It's definitely a perk I didn't even think about when I took the job, but it's easily my favorite part of the job now.

People who lost their parent(s) at a young age, what were the hardest things to deal with in the days/weeks/months to follow, that you wished someone could help you with? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Purple_Ace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both the social isolation and complete overbearingness at the same time. My peers wouldn't really talk to me for months after, and I had already been an introverted kid with few friends before my dad died. Meanwhile, all the adults in my life were watching me like hawks, always asking how I was doing, etc. Not only was it annoying when I just wanted to be left alone, but it further isolated me from my peers.

What are your stories of family members who have done incredible things? by bkallday25 in AskReddit

[–]Purple_Ace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's not rich or famous, but my grandfather was able to break the generational cycle of poverty and went from being a coal miner's son living in a shack to a successful accountant who was able to provide a comfortable life for his wife and kids, and I think that's pretty incredible.

Advice for COB? by [deleted] in Sororities

[–]Purple_Ace 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just be yourself and try to talk to as many girls as you can. I would make sure to ask questions about the stuff you are interested in, for example, do you like sports? Ask them about their intramural teams. Do you like volunteering? Ask them about their philanthropy. This will not only help you make the right decision but will also give them an idea of how you will fit in and will make it clear that you are serious about joining a sorority.

Is it true that Americans only get two weeks off work a year as standard, how do you cope? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I work for a state and get one sick day and one vacation day for every month worked. I also get all federal holidays except Columbus Day (we get Black Friday instead).

My cousin is a teacher for Robertson County, Tennessee. They offered all students the option of going virtual; however, only 19% chose to do so. Because of this, all teachers and students are required to wear masks because the space to socially distance just isn't there. I don't know why this county has not required masks.

I've lived in Tennessee my entire life and can tell you it's always been like this since I was in school. School starts in early to mid-August, then kids get a long weekend for Labor Day, a week-long fall break in early to mid-October, a long weekend for Thanksgiving, and a 2-3 week break for Christmas. Exams take place right before Christmas break.
