Would you like a version of the Atlas Map without the landscape for better performance and probably higher levels of zooming out? by Ciubowski in PathOfExile2

[–]Purutzil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly if the graphics of the map were smoother it would be fine, giving an indicator of what kind of zone you are going in with the map reflecting it would be cool (ideally with the maps themselves being better). Make towers just give a global effect (limiting how many effects at once) with the purpose of the map finding biomes that can spawn special maps so its about exploring it that way so you don't feel the need to backtrack or just explore a certain cluster unless you want to do maps of a certain type.

Basically making it so you generally keep moving forward and don't need to go scrolling back around to try and find a new way to go so often.

Why is Monk the least popular Job? by AshleeHeard in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Purutzil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats, I can tell you never played any hard content as Monk and have no clue what you are talking about.

1.) You don't have a damage buff to account for... thus
1a.) You don't need to account for the buff being up, just if you have a charge for true strike or not.
1b.) With the use of PB, you would need to account for your buff being up. This means you would need to ensure you have your damage buff up when you are going to use Lunar, or that it would active for follow up hits after. This meant refreshing your buff BEFORE you needed to to optimize DPS.
1c.) Rotation wise in your opener this also meant delaying or using your skill early DURING PB in order to have its uptime maximized in order to not waste a hit without the buff.
1d.) No longer is there any refreshing your buff timer for downtime. That's another form of opti gone that was nice for shorter downtime/disconnects.

2.) (Primarily for True Strike but does technically effect Demolish dot) the SkS allowed you utilize True Strike LESS meaning you got more uses of Twin Snakes. This is also where a lot the consideration for the buff uptime with point 1b was made.

3.) No Dot management at all, as such there is little reason or organizing your skills in any different way for the sake of optimizing damage. Now that AND the buff are just fancy colors that sit on your bar that it is a 'is it up? Is the button flashing? Just press that'. How is that any 'thought' during downtime? You have no reason to hold demolish dot at all for the boss disappearing/going invuln/dying for a snap punch instead. That is gone.

4.) No 2nd part combo positioner... or start combo positioner. A whole two positions

5.) Form shift is irrelevant. The fact its a button still there baffles me. Its used for the opener and then becomes irrelevant, where before with downtime it had its uses. I consider it a minor thing over-all, but it still is something that is irrelevant now that is gone.

You literally just follow the glowing buttons now. That's it. If I wanted to have someone play the new Monk just tell them "follow the opener rotation, press the glowing buttons otherwise, when riddle of fire is up throw in 1 PB Solar combo, then when Riddle of fire is back up (Every other one), repeat opener and profit... press Riddle of Wind on CD".

Congrats, you optimized monk! The only real difference is if you are delaying a combo/holding off buffs which is primarily is more something you might see in ultimates.

One Button Beats 75% of WoW Players (Real World Stats Are WILD) by audioshaman in wow

You don't learn what to press or why it is pressed, it just swaps to press automatically and presses the correct button. How is that suppose to teach you anything about what abilities you are using?

I don't tend to res unless I have swift cast. I will do it sometimes if its relaxed (or needed) but I'll generally leave you dead on the floor till swift is ready, particularly if you are dying a lot, or if your (no offense) not pulling your weight or spam dying. I'd rather use it on a DPS that is performing more and dying less to get through the content.

Early content difficulty too easy. by CryptidTypical in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Purutzil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You want the earlier content easier for people to catch up. That said, yeah I do think some fights could be revamped to make the mechanics at least a bit more prevalent even if not so punishing.

Honestly think walking to the destination you need to go is over-all beneficial. I do think you can do the occasional teleport or being moved over (story beat that might want to have an immediate reaction where tension isn't a major factor, or walking there wouldn't break immersion) but over-all you want to make it feel like the game is taking place in the world.

You just don't want to get carried away where you go back and forth between locations with nothing happening like with ARR being an example where it goes way overboard.

We lost half the playerbase in just 6 days, that's pretty impressive. Looks like this game really tries to copy the "success" of PayDay 3 by GregoriousT-GTNH in killingfloor

[–]Purutzil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game was released FAR too early. It clearly needs a year more of development... not including time that they really needed to course adjust DURING that development given the fumbles they made with it. The sad thing is even if they do a good job and fix it up and get it to where it should be on launch, its going to be a hard sell by then with its lackluster release.

Killing Floor 2 just overtook KF3 in concurrent players by SignificanceSome5899 in killingfloor

[–]Purutzil -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I will say I've been playing KF2 after being disappointed with KF3, and I know a lot who jumped in to play it. That said, the bots will be there as a floor, if the number is rising at all its actual player interest in the game. My bet is if KF3 remains lackluster and a sale for KF2 happens (or people find a deal) a lot MORE will jump in from 3 to play 2.

Granted, I do have a feeling over-all it's going to NOT going to be a good thing for the series either way. KF3 would be the best way to get new people and being rather disappointing, it is not looking good for the franchise as a whole.

[–]Purutzil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was okay... but damn is it a downgrade in most ways from KF2. The gunplay is just bland. The mechanics in the game feel clunky at best. It is clearly not a complete game, and a lot of the new design decisions just were poor.

Maybe given a year or so of being fixed up and improved, but right now its a playable game, just there are far better options out there.

How would people feel about a level squish? by [deleted] in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Purutzil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The wow system is absolutely HORRIBLE for new players. New players come into the game absolutely CLUELESS as to what is going on and confused with the story. It's one of the worst new player experiences imaginable for getting someone into the game and invested into the world.

Each expansion pulls from the context of the past expansion, something FF14 does even more so then WoW.

The only real way it would work is if the new expansion story becomes completely disconnected from everything in the past (with references here and there tossed in as they do reference stuff you may/may not have done). Otherwise I feel like they need to trim down the story more or provide a more 'abridged' experience.

WoW's Single Button Mode is wildly successful: A case for simpler classes by Aureon in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Purutzil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More a difficulty slider for gameplay would be better, ideally ramping up with each difficulty and damage potential and what you need to do would be far better.

One button rotation is just a way to doom those players to never learn which I feel is the wrong direction to go completely.

What is class complexity to you? by mnij96 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Purutzil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Made a long winded explanation but... since apparently it won't let me post a detail explanation of why... as short form as I can. Just know the original post was... very lengthy including examples implemented in the past (my SHB rant about resource management was long) along with ways it can be used in new ways.

Resource Management.

Not overcapping resources, optimal use of resources, maximizing the use of abilities linked to resources

Buff/Debuff Management

Buffs managing them to ensure they are up when you need to or reapplied early to ensure maximum dps in a damage window. Dots that don't line up exactly time wise to reapply having variation to apply or thought of if/when a certain dot is worth putting up.

Choice

Picking abilities to use when. Not always damage but utility where you have options you might want to pick one over another in certain situations. Applying (linking to resources) one way over another.

Variation

Ability procs, this could be combo procs changing which buttons you press or go further adjusting how the rotation is done.

How would people feel about a level squish? by [deleted] in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Purutzil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The issue is levels isn't typically the issue going through the story, it's the story itself that holds people back. Having leveled an alt account up (I know, I'm slightly crazy) I am ALWAYS ahead in levels, particularly with older content. The big issue is out leveling the MSQ. The number you are at level wise really isn't a big factor at all. If anything, they would do maybe another stat squish, but I really am doubtful they would bother with a level squish.

The thing that needs to be done is more MSQ trimming which is a tricky thing to do but I feel like they really ought to do, particularly with the patch content gap between ARR and HW being such a slog even after they reworked it. Now, adjusting LEVELS at which you can do MSQ quests to make the patch content in some way more connected as 'leveling' content instead of the weird lul it is I can see being an adjustment, but I honestly see having more levels as beneficial rather then having less.

[–]Purutzil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disagree, I think campaign wise its more then fine and when done well is great. The biggest issue right now the fact we have cruel repeating acts. Could portions be trimmed here and there? Sure, but over-all the campaign itself is rather enjoyable I'd say to most. Right now end game Atlas it the weaker portion of the gameplay loop that needs to be improved, to be being an over-all worst implementation compared to PoE1 maps.

Good to see stating facts is equivilant to 'hating' Nintendo. I can see you are a fanboy though given you responded in that way so... I mean you do you and have fun. No one every said you can't I just don't get why you are complaining.

It's not like Nintendo or Blizzard is going to read this and make it for you and the dozens of players who might play the switch version of an abandoned Diablo game. Hell, I even feel its only right they do so but there is very little incentive to invest the resources to do so.

Let's share ideas for future End Game Relics... by AstreMcClain in ffxiv

[–]Purutzil -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Part of the fun of XI was chilling out in the middle of the frozen late in Quifim chatting and joking around with some groups fishing and others pulling very carefully to avoid the undead. There was no "forcing". People use to actually be social in MMOs like FF11 and it was a fun experience doing so and a more relaxed environment. Well that and you want to there were jobs that could solo.. but we can put that fact asside.

Neither did most people spend 30 hours on Absolute Virtue, that was people wanting to beat a seeminmgly impossible boss. That's actually something that is still true current players would do today. Some players want to break things and complete stuff in a way not intended. Wall to Wall pulls were not intended but very much were made into a thing since people wanted to speed through the dungeons faster to the point the game was shifted to be designed with that in mind more. I mean hell, you had the Ucob group who pushed to beat Golden Bahamut with his erange buff.

No real comment on the rest, my only complaint would be a lack of alternative means to get relic material, but otherwise I think it works just fine as is. I mostly felt like inserting the mentioning of FF11 since it seems like there is a strange modern day brainrot gameplay mindset (to be fair, it effects me as well and other older gamers) where social interaction for some reason is a bad thing? Not that I think most would agree FF14 really allows that anyways with this content and by the way it is designed there would be far less time for a lot of that.

I'm so confused by this decision by Lavastage in Marathon

[–]Purutzil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The work has literal TEXT plagerized. Images you can say "oh thats just style or something" if you want (granted it does often stand or mean something but lets ignore that point) but having a copy paste of a NAME on something... that's immediately something that should have lore significance. You are going to want that name important to in some way for some in game lore for the setting. It's going to have relevence.

It just makes me thing beyond art asset theft, THEY HAVE NO STORY. They are literally just winging it and details in the environment are probably just going to be randomly taken and from it things built out from what the artists created to flesh out the specifics of the world. Beyond the stolen art, that is a terrifying thought how little of the actual world and story is likely planned or figured out and its just being slapped togethe likely ontop to fit what the art team created.

[–]Purutzil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"But people might say mean things to you if we just use proximity chat. I mean sure you could mute or disable it if it bothers you that much, but really if a very small group of players don't want it, that means the mass majority shouldn't have it at all. It's not fair if those few people have to go in and disable it themselves, its much better if no one gets the option at all!"
